No she wont...shell tell you it was her idea all along...and yell at you for not starting it sooner

>>> as she is pulling the trigger! You had better have it running "before" the power goes off.

I wonder if some of the stator problems are from placing an undrpowered generator under an overload?

Cheap gensets use aluminum windings, which "crawl" when they get hot and loosen connections. They also don't handle moisture well.

How can we tell if it is aluminum? Hard question to answer.

Had a guy call me yesterday about getting parts for his generac standby generator because someone had vandalized it. He called me back this afternoon to tell me not to worry about the parts, they came back and stole the whole generator.

You won't find any generator with aluminum windings.. If they did the stator on a 8 k unit would be 4' across;)

Thats what I thought also. My fine Chinese $4500 Generac that blew the stator with less than 100 hours did have copper windings. Wasn't overloaded either. Just junk.

It seems, that some of the Generacs are made in the US and some not. There again, it depends on what site you're looking at.

I am an experienced fan of Honda's and Cummins. I still own 3 Honda generators all for different purposes at the time! Two of which have 1000 hours on and lots of life in them. Very reliable. The Cummins is what it is. Top of the line and my whole house solution. Now the Genaracs I won't bother purchasing if you intend to own them long term and have them be reliable. I have personally seen two of them melt down under stress and too much continuous running. Not my Honda's of which I have used them many days for 8 hours a day.

I too am wondering why more aren't using a PTO type generator. I use our Polaris Ranger to blade snow. The tractor's useless in much snow. I've got a JD4310 and am looking in the 12 to 15K range generator - maybe Northstar or Voltmaster or.... (Any thoughts on those brands?) Can someone tell me why I have to scream along at 2300rpm or whatever it is to get the 540rpm requirements of generators. Has anybody regeared the PTO generator links to allow something along the lines of half the engine rpm for the tractor?

I reckon because it doesn't make sense to a lot of people to run the hours up on an expensive tractor, quality of current being generated and the possibility of harming sensitive appliances and computers; noise, and using the tractor for other things. To each his own.
