Loader BX-25 FEL Lock

All... Think I know the answer to this but my Owner's Manual "says" what it does, but not how? If I engage the FEL lock on the control, does that just "lock" the control or does it do something to the hydraulics to "freeze" the bucket at its current position? Thanks!

I only use that lever in 2 situations. One is when I disconnect FEL from tractor, I engage lock to prevent it deadheading if it caught on a branch or someone pulls on lever when tractor is running and I didnt see them do it or didnt know whats its for.

The other situation is when I need to get off tractor with FEL in air for a moment. I have 3 kids and it just plains scares me with how easy it moves down with tractor off. Its always in that "a moment" for things to go wrong so I try to always leave it down on ground, but you and I know that its NOT always possible 100% of time and you know who you are!!!

I use my BX25 FEL a lot. Ive read all that too. Because I never leave my bucket no higher than 2', or fully grounded like the safety rules say, I have yet to find a use for the lock. If you are leaving the bucket high up unattended (out the drivers seat) you are an accident waiting to happen. If you did that on a commercial construction site you would be given your walking papers no questions allowed or asked.

That's what I expected (it locks the control) the answer to be but I wanted to know if it tied into the Hydro system or not? Thanks for the info, you guys are all right in my book! :laughing:

It just locks a lever. Its not tied into the hydro system.

It doesnt physically cut off the hydro fluid. It only prevent movement of the FEL stick . Just look under that plastic cover of joystick and play with lever lock.
