Woods equipment and parts online?

I have to disagree. They need to look at the competition - that is always a foundational aspect to successful business strategy. But, what Woods does is not 'my' business. I make the decision for my business that quality is equal elsewhere and easier to deal with.

If your going to go away from Woods then who are you going to use instead?

thanks everyone. I will use a brick and morter dealer to obtain the teeth I need, but not own anymore Woods products. They really need to get with it concerning ordering online. Their business model is lacking in today's world.

So, you would rather deal with a manufacturer that undercuts it's dealers by selling direct to the customer.

As I pointed out the competition doesn't sell direct either so the point is moot. I feel that implement manufactures prefer you to see there products in the flesh to really compare them. I know i wouldn't buy an implement site unseen just because they sell online. I'd much rather prefer to look close at the dealers.

I think he is just referring to parts as far as buying online. But I don't know of any company that sells direct to manufacturers. Even John Deere who has a good online parts program is only linked to your nearest dealer. You order the part and your local dealer ships to you (well at least thats how it was last time I used it). You could search local dealers inventory to see who had the stock if you needed to go pick it up immediately.

Messicks deals with Cub Cadet, Kubota, CNH and a bunch of others so one website allows you to buy parts for a lot of different brands all from the comfort of your home regardless of the hour of day.

I am still curious though as to what brand the OP plans to buy instead of woods now and hopefully he can tell us what he likes better about that brand. It never hurts to learn some different points of view.

Right.

Right.

My original post said "Woods equipment parts online". I need some simple 8 inch solid steel square teeth. I can not simply order these simple parts from their Wb site. So 1980's. In the end, they have lost a customer and that is all that matters.

Does any implement manufacturer have online ordering? I haven't noticed any which is why I am asking.

Yeah, so the mfg that sells parts online undercuts the incentive for the local dealer to stock parts. There is nothing like waiting two or three days for that $13 part that causes you to lose $1000 in hay you just cut to the rain. Example one.

I like paying $160 for a part online + $35 shipping for a Tedder gear only to receive the wrong one because I couldn't check it before I paid. The part number change came just after my serial but not delineated on the web site Example two.

I have more but why bother? I've learned my lesson. There will be no more equipment on this farm unless there is a reputable dealer I can drive to for parts/service. I'm not against the old business models. Seems to me they work out better in the long run.

:confused2: I'm sure Woods Eqpt. is all torn up knowing you won't be buying from them anymore.

Back in the day when you wanted parts you got out a paper catalog...measured everything twice to make sure it was the right part...mailed in an order with a cashier's check or money order...waited 6-8 weeks for delivery.
