Corn on the Cob Anyone?

Maybe we need a thread titled, "How do you butter your corn?":laughing:

I always use a fork to spread the butter because the butter squishes up in the tines and doesn't slide off like it does with a knife. While I'm doing that, my wife takes a 1/4 lb of butter and puts it out on a butter dish and rolls her corn in it. I have to admit, that's an effective method, but I don't think I waste as much butter.

Got to get one of these.

I do love corn on the cob with lots of butter and a little salt. One of the only foods I put salt on, never tried it with pepper.

Thanks Bird, I want to try it but we are way out of season, not sure if we can even get it now in the big grocery stores.

How does it taste out of the nuke oven? is it as good as boiled?

As far as buttering corn I nuke a stick in the microwave for 15 seconds, pick it up in my right hand, and then schmeer it on the corn. This is not a pretty sight and I'm sure you won't see this done on TV. But it is highly effective. Its kind of like eating barbequed ribs. If you don't have some barbeque sauce on both ear lobes when your are done eating the ribs you may have missed something in your culinary experience.

I have opened up husk put in butter then closed it up to cook over a fire , in the oven or coals, I may try that with this method and see if it still works out.

As far as buttering the cob, as far as I can remember, we butter up a nice slice of bread, then run the bread over the cob, butters nice and heats the bread.:thumbsup:

We always just peel the paper back on a stick of butter and rub the stick on the hot corn cob. Didn't know there were other ways. :licking:

Melted butter floats on top of water, just throw a stick in a pan of boiling water and then set it out, dip your corn in and it comes out buttered perfectly.

As a kid we always kept a stick of butter on a plate in the fridge for corn, gets a nice half circle melted in it after a while which coats the ears perfectly. Now we just use spray butter which works well as long as you pay attention to your aim

Bird, that made my day. Called my wife, when she saw your demonstration she wanted it put on a C.D. so we won't forget it. Good sweet corn on the cob is just about her favorite food .

That got me big points. Sure hope it works that well for us as it did for you.

Well I'll be horn-swoggled! I love microwave corn and this will be easy as pie! Thanks.

As for butter, we also keep a special corn butter in the fridge and we just roll the corn on top of it. Yum!
