Well these two machines don't seem to struggle at all. I watched and took video as they kept pace with the combine as it unloaded then with a load took off leaving the combine far behind.

You may want to read some of the link I posted then. Most of them were built because tractors and carts weren't working as well. So they built these units that can travel faster and match ground speed better than a tractor and cart.

Some of the early ones propbably yes, but people learn from mistakes, either their own or others.

If the frame and driving gear come from a combine the should be compatible in the field.??

I've often thought that having a self-propelled grain cart seemed like a good idea for another reason. At least some of these should help somewhat with compaction issues by spreading the load over a larger footprint. Also, some appear to be more stable than a normal 2 wheel cart like the one we have.

We had an old Gleaner that we thought might be a fun candidate to try, but finding time to do it was and is an issue, and we also decided the cost would be better invested in upgrading other equipment. Still, someday I'd like to give it a whirl. These just look like they'd work pretty well.

i guess it is one way, to make use of an old combine, that was either going to go to the scrap yard. or get re-used.

If those are combine chassis then they took a lot of mods to get there. Every combine I ever saw had the engine up high and these look to be near ground level so they did alot of modifying to get to the point pictured. I wouldnt think you could make a profitable grain cart that looked like that from a combine but you could maybe strip it and put a grain cart hopper on one leaving the engine, cab , transmission in place. By taking off all the threshing mechanism you would have plenty of room for grain hopper and you could still use the existing auger system to unload it. Still lots of planning and work would need to be done to make it work though.

Pretty slick! Never noticed any of these rigs in the fields around here. Great conversions....and it keeps them farmers off the streets.
