I recently purchase a new tractor (Kubota L3940) and started looking into insurance to cover it from theft, etc. I checked with my home owners policy, but the annual premium seemed too high ($750/yr). Our vehicle policies don't cover tractors. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have a writer, added to my business policy for my equipment. But I have quite a bit. $750 a year doesn't sound bad at all. What is the deductible and what all does it cover? Theft, fire, hail, being thrown off a trailer? I pay somewhere around $8000.00 a year for about 10 pieces of equipment and a few misc tools.

CNH covers my tractor for $160.83 ... thats $25K with a $250 deductible. Kubota will also write the policy even if not financed with them.

How are you using the tractor? We had a long discussion on this a while back and most people who talked to their insurance agents found that the tractor was covered under their homeowners insurance as long as it was kept on the property and used for personal (not business) use. If you use it in a business (or a farm) it should be covered under that policy.

That is true for a garden tractor, but a home owners policy has a limit of something like $5000 for yard equipment. I know if had my tractor stolen getting a $5K check from the insurance company minus the deductible would not make me very happy.

This was how mine was but my agent added a rider for the tractor and impliments and other equipment. The additional premium is $120. Even covers my 4 wheeler.
