My local (and pretty much only) internet provider has just been bought by Skybeam.

Searching on line, there are a lot of negative reviews about Skybeam once it takes over a local provider.

Anyone have any experience with them?

I am trying to decide if I need to start "pursuing other options".

Thanks

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is it being in the right place at the right time?

So this kind of tells you what kind of company Skybeam is, doesn't it?

Skybeam or Skynet?

Didn't John Connor send Arnold back to warn us all about Skynet???

Interestingly, we have Hughes and so did my son, 5 miles away. His service had a lot more problems than we do. I don't like Hughes speed and daily limits but it is otherwise liveable. Just a few months ago, we finally got 3G coverage. We picked up a unit for our camper and it usually runs a little faster than Hughes. The one advantage Hughes has is their 2-7 am unlimited download window, which I use for O/S system updates. That's the only reason I'm still keeping Hughes. Apple has humongous system updates that might be very expensive with 3G (AT&T is the only one providing 3G or any reliable coverage here.)

My Microsoft update this morning was 281 MB... I did it at 0530 today...

Apple sometimes runs 1 GB updates and even has a 10GB update  That's my one serious complaint about Apple, they do not understand that not everyone has unlimited bandwidth on superspeed internet links.
