1900 3 POINT HITCH WON'T RAISE

ok i did pull spool apart, not to worry I teach machining and fabrication and repair all my own equipment,lathes , milling machines , power shears....but this is kicking my butt!!!! ok worry !! it all came apart as it should except the slotted port #21 check valve seat, it is TIGHT!!! , Will make a tool to fit slot better and get it out, everything else is clean and free ,all o rings looked good,

Okay, why don't you take close up pics of the block and ports so will have it for future reference. 3 bolts that attaches the relief to lift cover are long due to hyd block width. As Jim suggested if you temporarily take out the block then you can check your spool and lift system now that we know you have flow up to that point. I wonder if you have shorter bolts or can put enough shims/washers to make it work.

Its going back together , GREAT IDEA !! I will assemble without loader in the system ,then if that does not let 3 pt work ,I will make tool to get check valve out of spool!!! I have nothing but time this weekend , THANKS AGAIN

WE HAVE LIFT !!!!!!!!!! Removed loader block and works great!!! now what???
I did take spool apart and put it back together before removing block,don't think i fixed anything ??? I will check block with light , air!!! but this is progress,

woo hoo, :thumbsup:slowly but surely.. we reached the top. That shows your lift spool works, shock relief works like it should and piston seal is working at least as of now. Got to check that check valve on the hyd block. The guilty part is found.

blew out block ,put back together 100%, and everything works???don't know what did it but we did it !!!! 3 pt picked me up 200lbs and loader has 200lbs in it. just took all back apart to rtv seal for spool cover and put new o rings in the .outer block and pressure relief . THANK YOU !!!!!!WILL KEEP U POSTED TOMORROW WHEN IT GETS OUT!!

Great, there was a gremlin somewhere in the circuit that was evicted. when was the last time you had hyd fluid and filter change?

I just picked this up for my hunting camp /northern mi. get away /84 acres 1week ago today knowing the 3 pt did not work, but knew the loader worked good ,1 owner and never had anything hooked up in the rear to the 3 pt.. 2000 hrs. $2750.00 , I checked the filter - clean.the seller gave me the dealer papers he took it to before I bought it to have 3 pt fixed , hyd. oil change plus looking for 3 pt. problem $900 / it is in awesome shape.

Side note ... is this internet thing awesome !!!! talking to guys across the country who know and or had the problem before , helping , saving $$$

That's a great price and good tractor you got. These series Ford Tractors are real work horses, give them a bit TLC and they repay it all.

Wow! I went away long enough to watch my Rangers choke in the World Series and this morning I see you've fixed your tractor. YEA!!!! Way to go, Toolhawk!:thumbsup: My guess is that one of the internal o-ring seals was leaking and you replaced the seal or somehow stopped the leak. It's all good.

I was rooting for the rangers to , (they beat our tigers) Everything works 3pt , loader.... the only problem that I seen now and was probably there before is the dump function on the bucket won't retract the last 5 inches, , if I put pressure down to the ground i can get it to retract all the way, i can go in and out dozens of times as long as i don't go past 5 inches, if i go past then it won't retract all the way, no jerking, very smooth.....

question 2 ,pressure relief on the 3 pt spool how do I know how to set it ? I have it in so the loader works great , if I back it out it effect performance.

We lived in St. Louis for 5 yeats and one of my boys was born there so we kind of rooted for the home team "Cardinals". On 3 point pressure adjustment. put a gauge where I have shown on previous post, raise the 3 point slowly as far as you can till it relief device releases pressure. This comes with a chattering noise. The pressure you read is the relif pressure. on 1700 max pressure is around 2100 or 2300 psi. I can pick up heavies implement I have with about 1900 psi so I actually lowered my pressure since I don't need more as of now. after you take the cap off the relief device clocl wise rotation will increase set point and CCW reduces and you check it while it is running checking the pressure right before it dumps.

I just found this post. I usually don't check the ag tractor forum. Hook a gauge to the plug on the left side of the black knob that controls the TPH down speed. (between your legs when sitting in the seat). Adjust the pressure to 2300 lbs by adjusting the relief valve on the TPH. This sets the pressure for the loader and TPH. I have a 1900 and it is a great tractor.
