Horst makes some real nice stuff. I think your going to really wish you waited for the 84" also. You may also find that chains are in your future. R4's are not the greatest in the snow. But put on some rear chains and you'll move mountains.

Matt

A 84" lighter blade might work ok, but I'm not sure an 84" HLA 3000 wouldn't be too much weight way out there on the front of the FEL. The 84" weighs 900 lbs and the 72" is 750 lbs. Front chains may be needed for steering control.

I have an 84" Horst Materials Bucket, which weighs only 575 lbs and it is sometimes a challenge to steer in anything but a straight line with the FEL in float.

Nice looking blade, DP...definitely well built!!
Have you attached it to your loader yet?

Not yet Roy I had it attached to remove it from the trailer but never had the lines hooked up yet. I wanted to get some pipe dope to hook up the lines (nice and long to go to the rear remotes) that JD made up for me. They told me not to use teflon tape- but to be honest I had always used teflon tape on my kubota loader blade and never had a problem.
I am stuck on pumpkin carving duty with my daughter tonight so I will try and get it hooked up this week and get some video or some pictures.
I am so glad I work and pay bill so my wife can travel she went to the States to visit a friend and I think she is stuck in one of the snow storms...lol ;)

Good point I thought things through before I ordered the 72 inch blade I have a 60 inch horst blade for my kubota 7510 and I always have done very well with it for my smaller lots so this is still an upgrade for me.

Congrats. Those 3000 blades are built like a brick. You'll need good ballast in the back to offset the front weight.

I have the rear ballast box full of cement must be at least 500 pounds and about 650 pounds of wheel weights on the rear I am good :D

Nice looking rig! I like that it doesn't hang way out in front like some of the adapted pickup plow setups do.

Thank you I also love the quick attach feature my other one for the kubota is a pain have to pull loader pins and cotter pins to hook that one up

Very nice DP!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back? Also, was the JD paint an extra?

2600.00 plus tax I have about 2900.00 into it

Hey Matt I have the regular turf tires not the big baloony ones and the dealer is telling me they are really good in the snow. I have never run chains on my kubota 7510B with the 60 inch horst blade and never had a problem in 4 x 4.

I keep thinking bigger and bigger the 3720 is looking to small to me now..wtf? but I will work with what I have. A 60 inch blade has made me money on smaller properties for 6 years so this wont be any worse

Nope on any extra cost the dealer just tells Horst they want a 3000 series blade for 300 cx loader and thats how it comes, those Amish guys do great work!

I find the r4's are ok in deep snow but add any ice and all bets are off. I have a super steep driveway. I've slid down several times and was unable to come back up with 4 engaged and diff locked. I also have loaded rears, smaller r4's and keep the 448 on the rear.

I find the JD plow(72") too small for any real large area's and it barely covers the tires when angled. The horst is alot beefier without question. But the 84"
2000 would be a better fit, you could have even gone to a 96" since the weight is down. It sure is a nice plow though. I hope it serves you well.

Matt:thumbsup:
