Been looking into adding rear hydraulics on my 2516hst so I went to a local dealer and the quoted price scared me stupid and was wondering if adding two levers and 4 hydraulic ports should be in the ballpark of $1,300 - $1,400?

I saw the power beyond kits and if I purchased a kit is this all I need for a diyer to add rear hydraulics or is it more involved than that where the price I was provided is justified.

I am borrowing a rear blower for winter and the chute is hydraulic but could easily be changed to electric because the hydraulic cylinder moves the chute through cables and has no hard attachment to the chute. I just figured at this point that having the rear hydraulics could become very useful someday.

Thanks

You can do it for less, but the dealer needs to make money too. I would guess that your dealer has not done this before, at least on your model and is allowing enough time in the quote to get it done. You can probably do it yourself for about half.

Good luck

I bought a dual remote valve kit from Mahindra for my 5530 and it was $950 just for the parts. I put them on myself, but would not recommend doing so unless you are quite mechanical and have close to a full day to devote to taking apart your machine, putting the valves and piping on and rebuilding your machine. One more thing the directions lose something when they got translated from the India version to English. I would do them myself again if needed, but be forewarned it's involved.

If your tractor hyd system is open center, all valves should be connected in series.

If your loader valve has a port that can be fitted with a PB adapter, then you will remove the 3pt hose from the valve.

Add a new hose to the loader PB port, and connect it to the IN port of the remote valve. This valve can have as many spools as you desire, It should also have PB .

Take the 3pt hose and connect it to the PB port, then add a new hose from the T/tank port to the reservoir.

Check and reset all the reliefs to the loader relief psi setting , which should be set to about 50 to 100 psi below the pumps max pressure.

The GPM rating of the remote valve should match the tractor pump flow.

Try these places for parts.

Thank you all so much for your replies. This seems to be a bit complicated for the occasional tinkerer :). The research I have been able to do so far has shown me I may be better off leaving this to the professionals. The dealer told me they do these all the time. They hand build the whole assembly and brackets. Thinking the 1300 may be well worth it in the long run.

I can think of no reason that a person with avg mechanical ability can't accomplish the job of adding remotes or hoses for rear hydraulics. It will save you many bucks, and you will learn from the experience.

If you can determine that your loader valve has PB, everything after that is just adding parts and pieces, and there are many examples or people doing just that.

The least expensive way is with one PB adapter, two hoses, and two QD sets. Your attachment should have matching QD's.

I am dealing with a guy now and the dealer is somehow able to use 2 OEM valves. Mahindra only offers 1, you may want to ask your dealer if that is what he is doing or if the whole thing is going to be aftermarket. I thought that it was pretty good that they are able to get the 2nd valve on there.
