Any advice or suggestions would be great

1) Jinma 254 engine started knocking
2) Checked injectors - and #2 cylinder appeared to be the problem
3) Checked compression #1 cylinder and #3 cylinder had 500lbs and #2 had 300lbs
4) Pulled head and noticed antifreeze / liquid on top of piston
5) Changed head gasket - torqued head
6) Checked compression and all 3 cylinders right around 500lbs

Then started the tractor and this is what I have

1) Knocking still present
2) Exhaust smoking
3) Liquid oil leaking around manifold to muffler gasket (higher the rpms the more oil bubbles out of the gasket)

Anyone have a similar experience or advice or suggestions?

:welcome:

You didn'r state how many hours you have on the engine.

You didn't state which cylinder had the anti-freeze in it. All three?

You didn't state the color of the exhaust smoke, which I assume is brownish/whiteish.

Apparently you have a dribbling injector and a badly leaking muffler gasket (that allows liquid to pass).

Replace the #2 injector with a new one, or take them to a diesel shop to be pop tested. If you have a stethescope (or a long screwdriver) you can tell which is the bad injector just by listening.

Thank you very much for the reply.

Tractor is 2004 - November mfg - pre epa

#2 cylinder had the anti-freeze in it and its compression was 300lbs and #1 and #3 were 500lbs (before I replaced the head gasket)

Exhaust smoke is white - but knocking sounds like metal on metal - like bad rod in a gas engine

Oil leaking out of gasket 9which was loose looks like oil and not diesel?

Thank You again

The fluid leaking form the exhaust gasket is bound to look like dirty oil as it is unburned diesel combined with carbon from the combustion chamber, making it thick and black. It would be very unusual for oil to get to that location.

Rich is correct. The white exhaust is unburned fuel. Replace the bad injector.
Okay, I had some coffee.
What does the "liquid oil" smell like?
The #2 cylinder was bound to have lower compression initially because the cylinder walls had been washed down by the dribbling injector (too much fuel washes away the oil film that helps the piston rings seal).
