Hello, Im asking if anybody has purchased one or more of these portable heaters- such as edenpure or duraflame or any other brand out there? Im going to buy, but I'd like to get some more feedback from those who already have.Thanks alot!

It's a complete waste of money. They are no more energy efficient than a $20 ceramic heater. Don't fall for the marketing gimmicks.

My parents got one and eventually sent it back.

the edenpure/amish heaters work - but are not worth the hundreds of dollars they cost..

From previous post and research - a 1500 watt heater (max allowed in the US) puts out the same amount of heat no mater what the brand..

an oil filled heater will 'radiate' heat long after the power is turned off SO it may sorta save you money..

So a $30 ceramic heater will work just as good as the higher dollar heaters..

1500 watt electric heat is the same no mater what kind of fireplace or heater its coming out of. Lots of these ripoffs out there. Ever see those ads for the Amish built fireplaces. Do a Google search and see all the fraud statements out about that rip off.

Being a retired electrical engineer, I know that you can only out of 1500 watts, you only get the same number of BTU's. No mater what type of heater it is.

That said, my elderly inlaws bought 2 and sister inlaw bought 1, I cringe every time I go over to ether one of their houses and see them running. Any type of zone heating may save you money, but spending 300 bucks for a electric heater, remote or not It will not heat any better than a 20 buck heater.

I think that they got shafted.

My mother has an Edenpure and she loves it, "cause it keeps her so warm", I didn't say anything to her except, "next time your getting an appliance let me do a little research". Mom has usually been smart about $ all my life, but as she ages, I feel she still takes things, as a matter of fact at times (commercials). I think the only difference in her unit over the space heater she had is a built in fan, which moves more air. Sad thing, she has a LP wall heater my brother put in that works great. It's one of those that "looks" like a fireplace on the wall?

i bought a edenpure 3 years ago,and i love it,i would buy again.i recommended to different people and they love there's.get the biggest one not the small one.i have the Gen 3.when this runs the furnace don't kick in.

You can achieve exactly the same result, and exactly the same btu's, with a heater like this: Comfort Zone Deluxe Horizontal Quartz Heater 1500/750 Watt, Model# CZQTV33Bk | Electric | Northern Tool + Equipment

All you need to buy is any type of fan forced, infrared heater. Yeah, it doesn't have the pretty box, and fancy controls. Are those worth paying $100-200 more for? Not if your goal is saving money. :thumbsup:

I set my coffee table on fire with a quartz heater years ago.:ashamed: As they advertise...they heat the objects in the room, not the air. Confirmed!:2cents:
