My dealer has a bx 2360 with less than 100 hrs. coming in. Loader, 54" fine cut, turf tires for $10K. Supposed to be like new / he sold it 2 yrs ago to customer who needs much larger for his new property. Wants $15,100 for a new one. I am hoping to finally upgrade from my JD GT 225. Bagging leaves is a nightmare, planning on buying a cyclone rake next year. Any input on the pricing? Thanks,

Push him harder, once it actually comes in. If it sits on his lot for a few weeks, he'll deal with you. Say things like, "Oh, I don't know. I'm not sure it is exactly what I was looking for." Things like that. Don't appear too anxious. He can smell it if you are. :D

Thanks for the input BP. I just need to know if $10K is a good price. This model is in pretty high demand here and I do not want to lose it over a small amount. Once I see it, I will ask to see servic records (is there a 50 or 100 hr service?) If not serviced, will ask for that as well as a bucket hook if it is not there. Will insist on looking at deck closely (underside) to determine condition, etc. Anything else that I should look for or ask to get thrown in the deal? I will pay cash, most others are buying new for the zero %, but there are other smart buyers around and I know that he will be calling at least two others when it lands in 2 weeks.

Jim,

Push comes to shove, a gallon of SUDT, a gallon of engine oil, and a full filter pack of all 5 filters. Tell him, "That'd seal the deal". Leave that one until the last minute.

Oh, and a block heater would be nice too. :) If you gonna pay "retail" there are things that can soothe the heart, but not really cost the dealer all that much. A big YES on the bucket hooks. Case in point.

Still unclear whether $10K is a good price.

Personally, I think it is priced right, but that's just one man's opinion. The price was quoted you by the dealer, so it reflects what he thinks it is worth. The negotiating starts there. Doesn't matter, really, what any of us think of the price, as it was set by the man who is selling it. Don't mean to sound evasive, so please forgive me. All I've tried to say is to push and see what you can get it down to and what you might get thrown into the deal.

Each local market is different. What a similar unit sells for in one area may or may not apply to another market. But you know all this.

Best wishes on perhaps getting your new BX. You'd love it, btw.

Thank you. That is the input I needed and will use that strategy. I will post results when the bx arrives in about two weeks.

Well the used BX came in. Hour meter broken, outside stored, not what I wanted in terms of condition. Now back to choices, including BX 1860 & 2360 with FEL, probably new.

I wouldn't give up on it. Tractors start looking crappy in a short period of time. See if you can get it for a great price.

When we got our place a few years back, I spent a year looking for a pristine, used tractor, in my wheelhouse monetarily. It just didn't happen. So, I just bit the bullet and bought the BX1860, with front hydraulic snow blade, using the true zero percent they had back then. Never, ever regretted it. Not a moment.

Sure enough, since then? I've seen a few tractors that I wish I had seen three years ago, but they weren't for sale then. That's the way it goes. Can't control that.
