I get the parts for my Willys from walcks4wd.com and kaiserwillys.com. They both sell good quality parts, have very helpful staff and there websites have a ton of information. Good luck getting your 3b back on the road. They are a lot of fun. I had a 51 3a when I got out of college and had a blast with it, but life got in the way and I had to sell it. Years later I found a 51 pickup and I'm enjoying the heck out of that, but I still miss my 3a.

lhfarm, great looking 49!!Not sure, but I am thinking the moter is really close to the 8n, or maybe a few years older were the samr. Anyway thats a really great job.
Anyone wanting to restore one I have a 71 cj5 with a v6 Buick that needs a new home. Its a southern jeep so its rust free.

Nice old Willys.

Unfortunately, $200 Jeeps turn out to be a lot more than that, before you finish restoring them.

My '78 CJ5 restoration. I added the spare tire on the back, after these pix.

Boy are those true words! It certainly isn't a good financial investment. We (my son and I) have 8 years of wonderful times working on this. That is priceless.

I have a 47 that is my real farm jeep. Don't know if we will restore it. Also have a 79 CJ7 that needs a new body. I've been slowly bringing it back to daily driver status.

lhfarm, my dad has what I believe to be a '63 3B, with Warn overdive (aftermarket, I think?) and Warn hubs. He bought it in boxes back in the day and restored it top to bottom. It actually won a few trophies at car shows. Due to a bad water pump which lead to a cracked head and having a wonderful new born son, yours truly, It fell back into bad shape. I always wanted to fix that thing back up for short trips to town and such.

My question is what or where is the best place to find parts for such a thing? I'm sure more than just the head needs fixed now. I really like the tires on yours.

It is amazing how many companies there are out there selling parts. You can see a partial list on our Web site Farm Jeep: Jeep Links and History Like Swiftriver we've found Walck's to be a great source.

On that same page are listed some jeep forums. You should really visit The CJ3B Page It will get you going on that restoration. The tires are from here - Coker Tire - Your Source for Antique Tires and Wheels

Swiftriver, I'd really love to have a pickup. Just don't have the room right now.

I have never seen a 3-point and PTO setup on a Jeep. Factory option or add on?

They were available both as a factory option and as add-ons. We have lots of history on our Web site Farm Jeep . We have updated the restoration info in a while (been too busy being retired!) but there is a lot of history there to read.

You definitely are right about the "financial investment" aspect of these old timers, but all the money in the world wouldn't make me more relaxed than when I am in the garage with a cold brew tinkering on my toys.
I'm in the same boat as you. I would love to pick up a 3a, but I just don't have the room in the garage. Yet. I'm still working on my wife on that one. Sooo, if you ever thought about parting with that 49......
Nice job on the website. More surfing to do when it starts snowing.

I came across this old picture of my stepfather using our jeep to hoist up a blower pipe up the silo with a block and tackle. Same jeep was used for plowing and pulling a New Holland baler through the field.

Tcreely, great photo! Hey send me a PM, I don't know how to get in touch with you.

I love Jeeps. Owned a 54 Willys Wagon, then a 56. Each had 20 years of abuse before I ever saw them and I discovered I was spending at least an hour under them for every hour in 4wd. The last straw was when I put a nasty spiral crack in the bellhousing of the 56 (w/ 292 Ford), of course way out in the woods. Crawled home with no clutch action and decided I was nuts to continue with stuff so thrashed.

So I bought a 4 speed '72 Wagoneer and never had to fix anything, even giving it all the same abuse. It's nice to get back on to the pavement Sunday evening, getting dark and 120 miles from home, and know you will make it home no problem. I wish I still had that Wagoneer.

Photo when I was 35 years younger ...
Yes it's sliding along on its tail with the rear tires dangling. No, that didn't hurt a thing. It's sliding on the frame-hitch assembly which can take a lot of abuse. I never did put a dent in that thing. Then a drunk totalled it while it was parked at a parking meter.
