Reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit during one of the Gulf wars during a press briefing when a foreign correspondent stands up and asks the General "can you tell me how many troops you have and where they are located"?

That's called "Public Disclosure", and it's required... Don't ask me to quote which law is applicable, but I know it has to be done. Every USAF base I've ever worked at has to do this. It's generally very benign information, what MDS (Mission Design Series) is stationed there, how many, how many Squadrons are within the Wing, etc.

The "protected" part of the story is where they are currently are and what they are doing where they at!

mmmnn...about 10 years ago( right after 9-11,but before the war was declared),I was riding my dirtbike with some friends just across from Tinker AFB outside of OKC,Oklahoma. They must of been doing some testing or something as a B2 was making multiple touch and goes all day long. And...they were flying right above us really low.I have to say.....if enemy combatants see one of these things coming, I bet half die of heart attacks. It was truly impressive and made me proud to be an american.

Just went to big airshow at Randolph in San Antonio. B2 and F-22 were no shows. I think F22's are grounded since the Alaska crash. Rest of show was great. I've seen the Blue Angels many times, but always good to see them again.

Was duck hunting on the columbia river and heard a rumbling echoeing off the walls when right over the hill popped an EA-6 from Whidbey island about 75 off the deck doing about 300kts, went right over the top of me. Now that's an airshow.

We live about 40 miles from Whiteman AFB and see the B-2's flying overhead all of the time. Seems like we are on the corner of some flight circuit (probably turning to stay out of restricted air space around KCI airport). Amazing machines - and quite LOUD.

My son is on the football team at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg which is 5 miles from Whiteman AFB. He sees the B-2 almost daily while on the football field during practice - flying very low. He says practice comes to a complete stop for a minute or so because the coaches loves to watch them too.

On occasion they will have a fighter escort which is a neat treat to see.

During the bombing runs at the start of Iraq war, the bombers left Whiteman, flew to Iraq and back - non stop. Gives a new meaning to the phrase "Are we there yet??".

Have seen them outside Warrensburg myself in their landing patterns. Real cool to see when they're at low levels and all you can see is the side profile of the plane. They almost disappear in front of your eyes due to the shape of the plane.

I don't know about this, but every once-in-awhile classified info gets released accidentally.
