The guy came to finish installed stove last night. Poor guy he is so far behind it came to my house about 7:30. He went home unloaded truck, ate dinner and then brought help over to finish the stove. The only bad thing is the odor from the metal curing. I burned it a little while last night but let it go out. So I will burn it today when I can monitor flumes and have windows open was not crazy about burning it last night and sleeping with the flumes in the house.
But I do love it, set some clothes next to dry last night on rack and they are completely dry. I had to give up the space my for my dryer for a water treatment system in laundry room.
So will start stove in a little while and burn it all day today with the windows open a little. Temp here today are mild we had a frost last night but was very nice yesterday about 50 degrees had a long sleeve shirt on yesterday and that was it.
On a side note the snow storm we had on Saturday night has hit down state and CT really hard. Most of the state in CT is out of power, and they called national guard out to clear trees. Folks down there do not like trees trimed so they have to put up with no power. Also most of the trees had their leafs yet.
At one point they called for us to have 18 inches so on saturday morning went to agway and bought 5300 watt generator. Good deal it was $800.

I like the look of the floor, but wonder if you have enough setback to the wall and, especially, the curtains?

Looks great. Good choice on the tile!!!!

If the tiles are 12 inches, then your setback is probably good. I'm sure you looked that up before placing it where it is. I agree that the curtain looks like it's too close to the stove. I don't think I would feel comfortable with it being there and a fire going in the stove.

We have used wood stove to heat upstairs of House since i built it in 1996. I have 20 acres of trees so wood is not an issue. It IS a chore to cut, stack, haul and burn...but so far this season (2 months so far) i haven't had to turn on the gas heater at all. this is a major savings in energy cost. So for this alone, i love the wood stove.

The mess it makes pales in comparison to what 3 dogs can do in a night with their toys HA

Wood is a great option if there are not health issues from its use.

If it was me I would have a metal shield between your stove and the walls. If not keep a real close eye on how hot they get. Better safe than sorry.

I'd think/hope that stove has its own heat shielding. Ours put kitty corner like that is legal at 4" away from drywall at the corners. The walls get warm for sure but not too hot to hold your hand there. I read it was professionally installed so I think this is the case.
