Does 4 wheel drive = 4 wheel brakes?

I'm amazed how many people do not understand how a differential works and it's effects on wheel spin.

Same people that believe cars only have one wheel drive?

Lock the rear differential and apply only one brake.... Then tell me it has no effect on the front.

Well it is coming up on the "season of miracles" you know

The best way to know if 4WD braking is more effective than 2WD braking is get a really good load in your FEL bucket get up some speed and go down a really steep hill and apply the brakes first in 4WD and note the stopping distance, then do it in 2WD.. the reason I say to do it in 4WD first is because there is a better chance it will actually stop.

After the 2 WD run they can let us know how the test worked out. Assuming they survive the crash at the bottom of the 2WD run.

Deutz Fahr has 4 wheel braking in 2 wd or 4 wd. That was one of the reasons I bought a Deutz Fahr. We have hilly ground, pulling heavy loads and stopping is a plus. It has hydraulic braking on each wheel and has a hand valve so it can be switched to 2 rear wheels or all 4. Uses a master cylinder much like auto's. Really nice when you have a load pushing you down hill and knowing you can stop.
