Question about DSL service

/ Question about DSL service #21
Our DSL lines and the telephone are different. It's inside the same cable but two separate services. Our lines have 4 sets inside the cable. And actually we had to have a tech come out and switch one set because somehow the DSL was on the fritz and it was the lines inside the cable that were bad.

some carriers will do "dry" DSL and some wont. It is technically feasible for all, but some don't want to do it. Never heard it called "naked" before, but I guess it is as good as any word to use for that idea:)

Will I still have phone service with Greenstreak?

Will I still have phone service with Greenstreak high-speed Internet service?
Yes. Greenstreak broadband service includes local measured service and is designed to resemble a "naked Broadband " offering. This is perfect if you don't want a traditional phone line.
Local measured service includes:

  • Unlimited incoming telephone calls
  • 911 access
  • Outgoing calls for 10 cents per minute
  • 1411 or 411 Directory Assistance
  • Operator services (dial 0)

Turning off the switch on a power strip will offer marginal increased protection. Really unplugging the power strip, unplugging the satellite RG6 or antenna from the equipment you want to protect so lightning can't jump a teeny tiny air gap in the hot leg. That surge can still come in on the neutral or ground. I don't know how much a good ground helps with all this. I installed two ground stakes 10 feet apart which happen to be in soil that tends to stay damp.

/ Question about DSL service #26
I guess I should go ahead to the point:D I do not have a telephone line plugged into my satellite receiver and never had another issue with lighting running in on it, as i stated ,They had me believing from the beginning that I must have at all times a connection to a telephone line in order to have their service,.... not for the past 8 years i haven't;) it's not that I want to do anything outside their policy, I just dont want anymore damages to my electronics, .....even though I just rent them from DirectTV,

Years ago i had a dish, and they wanted the system plugged into
the phone line. guess I only did that to order a pay perview. then somehow the line got dislodged :confused2:
if the phone line was dislodged at a certain time, the box was never able to transmit the ppv purchases to the provider for billing. ended up moving and
probably scrapped the box, but i don't think they'll take me back for some reason? at least with the promos... (haven't checked in 8 or 9 years though)
