Stan, nice place you have there! How much was the electrical? I know it's too late, but solar has come way down in price...$1.60 a watt for panels right now.

We used to pile cedar trees into Lake Palestine TX, then catch catfish around them later. We did a lot of diving back then and saw first hand the whole ecosystem of fish that those trees supported, minnows, bream, catfish, etc.

We are pretty close..

Well we got a little over 3/4 inch of rain.. made the tank look a bit better.

I was working last weekend by the middle pile.

Well they lifted the burn ban. So was able to get rid of a few piles

And it is raining again

Stan, in the photos, it looks like a BIG tank! **** looks massive. Nice and smooth too. Did you plant rye on it, not that rain and erosion have been a problem this summer.

I planted Rye twice.. and a tank mix I got from Turner Seed.

It is a big and deep tank.

We got alot more rain Almost 5 inches this month. Made a world of difference on the tank

One foot or so and it will be good to go.

Hunting season is almost over so on to the next projects.

I have about 14 acres of hay. Nothing other than cutting has been done for the last 20 + years. So i decided to totally redo the pasture.

Did the soil test so know what I need there.

I have to do a controlled burn to get all the dead grasses off. So after I get the fire breaks in I have plenty of friends to come help. I jsut told them Beer and Burger!

After the burn I was told to break the soil. I have a ripper and plan on using that. then a chain harrow to settle down. Then the lime. I was told by TEXAS A&M I needed 1 ton per acres..... then let sit for the required time. I will meet with the ag agent in Janurary.

I want to seed. My soil is sandy loom. I will add whatever fertlizer that is needed. I will assume after the lime the PH will be better... If not them more lime next year.

So my question is what kind of type and variety.

I have read about many but Tifton 9 stood out. as being drought resistant with low fertlizer requirements etc. I know nothing about grasses.

So any help would be apprecaited.
