I did a little research about the "foam". Turns out there are several types, and they all have there own uses/limitations. The higher density stuff, like in my tires is heavy, and more often used in construction equipment in areas where they expect to encounter metal, like a scrap yard. The bad news is it has a stiff ride, and is heavy.

Guess I'll check the toe in, but I suspect the tires are badly warn from lots of driving paved surfaces. No incentive for them to replace the tires once they foamed them:laughing:

Looked at brush hogs today, got conflicting info from a couple dealers.

One guy says I can run a 6' on this 1920. I wondered if it was a bad idea??

Would it be too much work for the 4 cylinder 32 hp motor?

Also, they said I only have to change the pins to attach to my existing Cat 1 hitch, is that okay?

I know wait is an issue with the bigger cutter, but I do have suitcase weights up front, and those tires we were just jawing about.

Somebody asked what I paid for the tractor at auction. $1760, that included the 10% buyer's premium.

6' hog on a 1920 should be fine.

Thanks Soundguy,

with the rear wheel overall width of 80", I really did not want to go with a 5 or 4'. Plus, I noticed in the specs that the blade tip speed is about 25% higher, wich makes sense due to the longer blades. My logic is the higher tip speed hacking into brush will be more efficient. Might be full of bologna, but that's the theory I'm hanging my hat on.:)

Regards,
Steve.

P.S. Just wondering, what is your first personal?

when i bought my 1920, the dealer made me a list of all 'approoved' sizes of equipment that machine would tote.. 6' hog was on it.. and it had no problem. at that time I had a 54 naa.. 4 cyl gasser and well.. 32 hp.. :) it handled a 6' hog too.. :) just drank more gas doing so!

When they told you you would have to change pins I wonder if it is a cat2 mower. A heavy duty cat2 mower might be to heavy. You might want check the weight of the mower verses the lift capacity of the TPH. I think you came out real good on the price of the tractor.

lift capacity should be about 1800# or so.
