grease fittings

I'm looking to get an assortment of spare grease fittings. I have some SAE ones but no metric ones. It looks like most large metric sets come with 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm sizes. Is there one size that's used the most? I would rather not have 50 fittings that I'll never use sitting on a shelf collecting dust. If 6mm is used through out then I'll just buy a couple of 10 packs of straight, 45, and 90 degree.

I bought an assortment of fittings from Grainger. Wasn't very expensive and now I know I have a good chance of having something that will work. They have a nice online site, easy to find things and order. You can also buy this stuff from Northern Tool, but my experience is Grainger sells a higher quality product and price isn't that different. I've also bought assortment kits of things like O-rings, cotter pins, nuts, bolts, etc. Saves money in the long run because I can finish a project without driving to the store 10 times.

There is also another type of grease fitting base, it is a straight with a slight taper drive in. I am not sure of all of the applications .

I have a grease gun adapter set that includes fitting removal tools and taps. Anything that's driven in I would just tap it to something easier to deal with in the future if possible.

For anything that's not metric, I have a SAE set now. There's a number of fittings that have been in there for decades. I would rather buy a good brand name and only have the sizes I'll most likely need than a cheap Chinese set that includes stuff that'll only come out of the case when it gets accidentally knocked over.
