I lived @ an hour south of the atl airport for about 10 years now, and just moved across the line into al. I acquired some acres and a tractor with the move. I have relatives in the north and definetly perfer the south. I dare to suggest that most folks reading here would find areas outside of atlanta mote suitable. Although it can be a great resource at times the lifestyle can be quite different.
Back to the op, i have busted up some new ground, hoping the moisture and freeze thaw will provide well in the spring and summer. I am also needing to understand the difference in the sun pattern from now and the start of the growing season.

I been planning to move south in about 10yrs or so. I was thinking about Ga,Tn, etc. Get away from winters, but trying to find a place thats not hot as all get out. You guys are getting snow and winter weather? I might put up with a little, but I'm really getting "allergic" to snow. You think this Yankee could handle it?

FWIW, I'm so far north i really don't consider myself a yankee. Maybe a snowbelt Redneck? I can drive to Canada in 40 minutes. Boston? 4 1/2 hours at 75mph. Got a 7mm mag rifle, 12 gauge pump, 2006 chevy 3500 crew cab 8ft bed duramax diesel, wife who loves deer meat, and she knows how to cook it right! How am I doing? Might fit in as long as i don't speak and give away my accent? Oh yeah, don't mind a few cold(or warm for that matter) beers.

Been in Ga all my life and love it still, even thought it can be "hot as ****". This past summer was the hottest I can remember and it seems to be holding on. It's Dec. 6th and I have my AC running at the moment. But you never know...I may wake up needing the heat and a heavy coat!

I'm an avid deer hunter and have been steady at it since Oct. 24th. Usually the rut runs around the 1st or 2nd week of Nov. So far, it hasn't hit yet. It will get cold for a couple of days and I'll see the bucks beginning to act up, then the next morning, it'll be 70 degrees and the bucks will go back into hiding.

Never the less, in Ga., you can expect about 2 months out of the year that you won't feel comfortable playing a round of golf. Otherwise, put on your shorts and "t" shirt, jump on your tractor, go hunting, golfing, or paint your house in December. Come on down!

Time will tell what we do. But when it gets about mid January to late February i get cranky sometimes. And we've had short cold snaps the last few yrs. Plus the lack of sunlight this time of year. It all adds up. But I think blaming me getting cranky might not have to do with the weather as much as it does with age.:D

I typically just come on here to read from time to time, but I'm a native Georgian. Some of the other forums I frequent appear to be slowing down a little bit, so maybe I'll spend a bit more time posting over here instead. I guess only time will tell...
