They are called different things by different people. but the telescoping slide bars that fasten from your lower 3pt link arms to the axle housing of the tractor.. antisway chains or bars... check chains. on some tractors they are "turnbuckles" etc.

They are not actually chains on your 3pt but a solid bar with adjustment holes and receptacle I believe. They function to keep the 3PT arms from swinging side to side.

Yep, Very few tractors have any down pressure, and I can't think of a single CUT that does This is the way they all work.

It is pulled into the ground as the tractor moves forward. The chisel edge insures it diggs in. The 3pt is set to limit how far it will sink in.

No problem Chris, learning about tractors is just like learning anything else. There is just a curve, maybe steep for you now, but will flatten out pretty soon. I still learn things here all the time, and I have owned tractors for 20 years, and grew up with one as a kid. We dont mind the questions at all. I enjoy helping people learn new things, and making new friends.

If it makes you feel better, go back and look at early posts by just about anyone on TBN except Soundguy, Farmswithjunk and a few other "naturals". Most of us are urban cowboys who have self educated via TBN (with lots of "stupid" questions and a few bent tractor parts).
