New Kubota Factory

the site is only about 10 miles from my house, the down side of the 200 added jobs is they are not high paying jobs. I know a guy that applied for a welding position there and they told him starting salary was $12 an hour, I hope he was pulling my leg, but he didn't act like it.

Hopefully they pay well but a $12 an hour job in the US is still better than a $12 an hour job in another country.

Isn't a lot to assemble a tractor. Assume engines will come in a container, transaxle in a container, front axle in a container. Wheels and tires - what is the source today? Last I remember seeing Toyota spent less than 20 man hours assembling a car and a tractor is less complicated although at only 20,000 tractors they won't be spending a lot on robotics. So there isn't a lot of US labor going into a tractor although they can tag it final point of assembly USA.

It will be another "assembled in the us" just like Deere. I want "made in America"!!

12 bucks an hour don't buy a new car at 30 grand, or a new home at 125 grand or put the kids through college. 12 bucks an hour don't put food on the table these days either. 12 bucks an hour don't buy a new Kubota tractor either....

Finally 12 bucks an hour for a skilled welders job is an insult.

heck, I make 30 bucks an hour and my only skill is telling people to get focked.:D

Well, come up with a product plan, get some investors, and show us how it's done.

Oh wait, nevermind, federal regulations make that plan impossible.

I never said it was great but $12 an hour is better than $0 an hour. Also a married couple if both working for Kubota and making $24 ($12 x 2) an hour is about $50k a year. The national average for a a family is $52k a year. In most of Georgia the median is much lower.

If it's going to be an assembly plant then I'm not sure why they would need welders, certainly not certified welders.

JD are not paying much salary either . New employees / relocated , are
on 40% of previous pay . Good paying manufacturing/assem jobs are
history . The tax breaks that Kubota will be getting will totally negate
the employment . As LBJ said " .... the whole thing isn't worth a
bucket of spit " ( I paraphrase ). It's all down hill for the US . When
China develops African mineral supplies , it will be the same here ; history.

If you want American made from Georgia , buy a Benedetto.

You write that as though a $30K new car & a $125K new home are bare minimums that every US job should be able to afford. I make a lot more than that & have never had either of those luxuries. Seems best to live within your means, whatever they may be, & that may mean no new car (whether $30K or less) and/or no new home (whether $125K or less) until your savings and/or income can afford it.

A $30K new car is a h3ll of a car!
