I just ran across this attachment last nite. It looks pretty interesting for certain applications. Anyone here have any experience with one?

Looks like a very poor substitute for a FEL.

Have to agree. The best thing about a loader is you can lift to height. The johnny bucket is basically a wheelbarrow that dumps... I just dont understand the attraction of installing it on a machine that can take a loader.

I have to agree, might as del save the money and put it towards a FEL. I also think if you ever want to sell the machine you would not be able to get much resale value out of it.
Could just get a pond scope for the rear and do 80% of the same thing for a LOT less $.

I think it would be a pretty handy thing to have. It does have its limits but so does everything else. I made something similar years ago but without the dump action. I didn't use it very often but when I did it sure did save me a lot of labor! I have met the guy who helped engineer the original johnny bucket years ago. Some of his stuff is pretty cool - and well built.

You still need to buy the loader valve system @600 bucks so that makes it 2100 dollars,
how much more is a loader?

I didn't realize that. Without the valve it sounds more like a lawn tractor rather than a garden tractor. The lawn tractor may not stand up to the riggers of any kind of bucket in front.

Just going to the Kubota Build your Own site, it looks like the loader lists for ~$2600, including the valve and 4' bucket. I'm not seeing the advantage here...

Have to agree with you guy's about the johnny bucket is no substitute for a good FEL, however I have a craftsman garden tractor with the craftsman front scoop and I put actuators on it for convenience and to save my arm (torn rotator cuffs) and I have to say it works pretty darn good. I can do light weight work with it with no problem. The actuators and sears bucket will not compete with a FEl, but it will definitely save your back on those small jobs. Just my 2 cents worth.
