I buried a TSC auger also. Maybe its the design?

I since bought a 50 year old Ford one and have drilled maybe 250 holes and no issues. I have learned to go slow, pull it up every 10" or so to clear it out, and did I mention to go slow.:D

My wife would make me take the old dirty broken bent implement back to TSC for an exchange! LOL
Funny how that works sometime:
I send my wife to do the exchange. She is very successful returning/changing/recycling/ getting discount stuff as long as there is a guy she has to deal with.
Case to consider:
One time I wanted to get rid of used oil and hydraulic fluid. Every place i went to refused to take it. At the end I finally found a place but had to pour it to their tank, standing on wobbly step ladder, by myself. There was not a funnel so I got oil all over myself.

Next time I sent her to the same car repair shop. They took all the oil, poured it to their tank and wiped the containers clean so she wouldn't get dirty.

Watch eBay also.

Last year I got a Bobcat-labeled hydraulic drive with barely-used 12" and 18" augers for $770.

The only fly in the ointment is that it was mounted on a mini Skid Steer QA, for one of the Bobcat walk-behind units.

You're probably OK with an auger designed for one of the mini skid steers, but you have to be careful buying used hydraulic skid steer attachments. Many (most?) skid steers produce a lot higher flow rate than CUTs do, so its easy to latch onto a used piece of equipment that your CUT will only operate very slowly.

I agree.

I did check the on-line specs for the Bobcat hydraulic drive against the hydraulic output of my TLB, and against the Deere specs for their auger head.

It looked to me that the Bobcat model 10 auger was very similar to the Deere PA 15 auger, and was going to work with the flow rates I had available.

On my Kubota I can restrict the down speed of the three point hitch. I set it to a very slow down speed and that seems to prevent the phd from screwing itself into the ground. You can adjust the down speed once you figure out just how good or bad you digging day is going to be. A four foot pipe wrench should be included with the phd when they sell it to you. :)

To other people this video will be about me planting a tree. To this sophisticated crowd it will be about "how did I do?" LOL

Nice video. Make sure you take it easy rocking the auger as there is some risk of bending it. When conditions favor the auger screwing in I like to bump the 3ph down just an inch or 2 at a time and let the auger catch up before digging further. (in addition to most of the methods already discussed)
