M7040 3 pt range of motion

We had a tractor before that you could lay the lower links on the ground, I've never found an implement that needed to go this low besides maybe a post hole digger. My larger tractor can do this if you adjust the levelers on boths sides out to the max but again, never needed it.

Got the stop moved out of the way and with that and the adjustment indicated by Treesanddust I now have a 3pt with a sufficient range of motion.

The next time I change implements I will raise the lower links off the ground a bit by adjusting the rods that hold the lower links since I don't need them that low.

I'm very appreciative of the responses.

Finally got around to adjusting the rod at the top of the lift arm. It did make quite a difference. Wonder why the factory doesn't adjust them closer to the limit. Mine was quite a bit off.

The 12mm nuts must have been tightened by a gorilla. There didn't seem to be any Loctite or similar.

If anyone else has difficulty getting those nuts loose, it is possible to remove a couple of small cotter pins and take off the whole shaft (maybe 6 inches long). Then you can loosen the nuts at a workbench. Might save a skinned knuckle and a bit of blood.

GW, are you referring to the stop that provides a set point to lower a 3 point implement to the same position every time? If so, it should be set at your lower limit, not near the upward travel of the 3ph.

Gwdixon - yes those nuts were tight on mine as well.

No. See post #2 of this thread. It has to do with increasing the range of motion from all the way down to all the way up.

The M7040 requires some fiddling to make the range of motion to the maximum. It is probably true of other M tractors but hasn't come up (yet).

First I don't have a Kubota but think I have a similar issue on my TYM. I had to adjust my link arms as short as possible. I also have a similar adjusting rod but the end is attached to the upper link leaving me to believe to has to do with draft control. Wondering if anyone could post a photo showing the adjustment rod on their Kubota so I can compare and decide if I can adjust my lift arms in the same manner?

Still too dark here for photos yet. Maybe later.

If the rod you are describing is attached to the top link then it would definitely be for draft control. The Kubota is adjusted from the top of one of the lift arms.

If your lower arms have multiple holes in them where the lift arms are attached then you may want to play around with the options. I believe that using the mounting holes farthest away from the tractor will increase lift height.

Update on the M7040 adjustment: Had to lengthen the adjustment rod a bit. A heavy disc was fully lifted and even thought the pump wasn't laboring the FEL operation was very slow. Just a 1/2 turn of the little turnbuckle was enough to restore normal movement.

Thanks.

Yea not even close to what I have so my search goes on. Would be lot better if could just find a shop manual but no can do. Found one for next size larger tractor and appears have to tear into stuff to get to an adjustment plate.

Some issues I have where similar to some of the posts on here so figured it was worth a shot.
