Greetings All,
I'm excited to be a part of this forum and to learn a lot more about the proper use and maintenance of my tractor. I was lurking on this site for several months before I bit the bullet and bought my CK from Nolts Power Equipment in Shippensburg, PA. Great dealership experience thus far, and I feel really good about everything so far. I'm very "green" at this tractor thing, so cut me some slack on learning all the acronyms, etc..! I'll get there, I promise.

First question....what brand, size, etc... log splitter would you recommend for a tractor of my size? I want to connect to the PTO.

Thanks in advance for your expertise and help.

i Honestly think ANY brand 3 point log splitter will work just fine. Most are run at a high idle speed anyways.

i had a JD870 that had only 8.1 GPM at 2250 psi hydraulics and it ran my home built 3 point splitter with 4" x 24" ram splendidly.

It never failed to split a log.

Your tractor has 12.7 GPM flow so would do even better.

Congrats and Welcome to the Pack!

I don't have any experience with the log splitters so can't help you there...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Grsthegreat. - that's helpful info. Considering I bought the CK, a hydraulic blade for snow removal and a box blade for driveway maintenance, I didn't want to spend a whole lot for a splitter. We had a early season snow storm in central Pa so I have 20 acres of destruction to clean up. I am sure I will leave some trees lay......good hiding spots for the deer!

My 2006 CK30HST FEL/BH just turned 620 hours. I bought it from Hoover Tractor in Mifflinburg PA. Read the owners manual a few times ask a lot of questions and always be safe in all you do with the tractor. I would also recomend that you purchase a parts and a repair manual. They will come in handy down the road. As for a log splitter I used mine with the tractor rear remotes and it worked fine. I think it is a 27 ton. Later I didn't want to ad more hours on the tractor so I changed and added a 5hp B/S engine and a 11 gallon per minute pump on the splitter and it works fine. I know there are a lot of opinions out there on what is better. Good luck with your new toy.

welcome to the pack:thumbsup:
I have a CK30 bought last year and have 240 hours, I do not know how I got along without it. My choice was a stand alone splitter, I can load logs that I could barely pick up before by rolling them into the loader then pulling up to the splitter adjust the height to be level with the splitter beam and just roll the log onto the splitter. when it splits in half one half just falls back into the loader bucket, no more dropping one side to the ground. After the wood is split it is already in the bucket read to go to the stack. Real big stuff like the 45" white oak I just finished I can stand the splitter up and use the tractor to push the logs into position, once broken down i roll them into the bucket lay the splitter down and finish the splitting. Very little lifting.
Did you get a gear or hydrostatic tranny.
