WELCOME to TBN :)

I moved your thread to the Kioti Owning/Operating Forum.

Thanks Bri! I was just going to start a new thread there, so you saved me a step. I haven't used forums much in the past, but I like to think I'm a quick learner.:confused2:

Congratulations on your new tractor. I had my wood splitter before I got my tractor so that is part of the reason I got the backhoe with thumb. Getting to old too lift some of those big rounds. I do like haveing the separate splitter, that way I can use the tractor to get more rounds or logs and also be free to use for other chores. You need to figure out which would work best, stand alone or 3pt splitter.
Have many happy and safe hours in the seat. :)

My 2006 CK30HST FEL/BH just turned 620 hours. I bought it from Hoover Tractor in Mifflinburg PA. Read the owners manual a few times ask a lot of questions and always be safe in all you do with the tractor. I would also recomend that you purchase a parts and a repair manual. They will come in handy down the road. As for a log splitter I used mine with the tractor rear remotes and it worked fine. I think it is a 27 ton. Later I didn't want to ad more hours on the tractor so I changed and added a 5hp B/S engine and a 11 gallon per minute pump on the splitter and it works fine. I know there are a lot of opinions out there on what is better. Good luck with your new toy.

Cabin Kioti - You bring up some good points, and I didn't even think about adding extra hours to the tractor, even though I am just splitting wood. I am like you and don't want to add extra hours on my workhorse, when I could just get a seperate splitter. I guess it will be a little more expensive up front, but that's cheaper than rebuilding the CK engine....that I am sure about.

welcome to the pack:thumbsup:
I have a CK30 bought last year and have 240 hours, I do not know how I got along without it. My choice was a stand alone splitter, I can load logs that I could barely pick up before by rolling them into the loader then pulling up to the splitter adjust the height to be level with the splitter beam and just roll the log onto the splitter. when it splits in half one half just falls back into the loader bucket, no more dropping one side to the ground. After the wood is split it is already in the bucket read to go to the stack. Real big stuff like the 45" white oak I just finished I can stand the splitter up and use the tractor to push the logs into position, once broken down i roll them into the bucket lay the splitter down and finish the splitting. Very little lifting.
Did you get a gear or hydrostatic tranny.

Lockhaven - Thanks for the welcome. I plan on having the CK for 30 years.....if it and I last that long! So, having the most efficient and convenient way of splitting wood is a must. It looks like you've found yourself a pretty clever and easy way of doing things. I'll have to reconsider my initial thoughts of a PTO mounted splitter.

Dang! Now I still won't have any impliments to use the PTO ---poor thing has a plastic cap on it and is being neglected!

I wouldn't worry about putting extra hours on your tractor.
Thats what you bought it for, to use it.
I seriously doubt you will ever wear out your engine. Deisel engines last thousands of hours.

I second the i wouldn't worry about the hours put on the tractor.

Personally i hate to have to winterize unused extra motors. I bought my tractor to use. So adding 8 hours a year (that i use splitting wood0 doesn't amount to much. that's 80 hours in 10 years. really not much if you sit back and think about it.. Mine mounts vertically. Mine backs up right into the stack of rounds and i split away while sitting on a log. very easy and next to no lifting.

I don't have any pics of it on the new Kioti for some reason, but here's a pic of it on the JD870 and of how easy it stores.

DK - yup, I did buy it to use......and it would be nice to use that brand spankin' new PTO.

grsthegreat - I've already got too many engines to winterize, so I feel your pain there, and don't really want another. I am sitting down, and 80 hours in 10 years would probably be close to my max log splitting time as well, so I have to agree with you. Thanks for sharing the pics. I think I'll try to find someone in my neighborhood (a few other tractor owners around) and see the PTO version work in person. BTW, most of the neighbors own the "other orange" tractor. I think I'm going to shake things up a bit w/ the CK!

it is amazing, so far i have had 2 neighbors climb on mine to test drive it ... thinking it was a Kubota. they both ranted and raved how great it looked, how great it ran, etc. then i told them it was a Kioti..... they were shocked. they both thought that the kioti was an old crappy looking tractor.... they had no idea of the fit and finish of this tractor.

One of them had just purchased a 45 hp JD open station... and paid more than i did for my cab 45HP unit...so hes kinda pissed off right now,

I have the Ck 20. And purchased my three point log splitter at Rural King $700. after tax. Just got the lines to hook it up. Had to wait over a month to get the quick disconnect hook ups. I'll try it out this weekend and report back. I didn't want another engine to take care of either. That's why I went with the tractor mounted version.

Tried out the log splitter today. WOW!!! I love it. It's a little slow but a good pace for me. I tried it on some really nasty looking Ash. Lots of knots and a large forked piece, it went through it like it was paper. I'm sure your much larger tractor will do even better.
