drop a hose from your tailpipe into any one of the openings, in a matter of minutes they'll be dead or gone, keep the .22 handy in case they come out another hole, but they usually just die in the burrow.

They are under a deck!!!! A good ten feet of unseen space. Ifthe #$%#@@ hole was right in front of me I would have NUKED them by now!!

#2 fox trap set in the runway then you can finish the job with a claw hammer

I dont see how poisioning with antifreeze is any different than anyother kind of poision
It is the amount of time it takes to kill something -- bait poisons kill with massive internal bleeding and do so in relatively short order -- antifreeze is a slow killer

I had a very bad problem with groundhogs last year (2010). Found one chewing on the corner of a new building I had just finished:mad: I declared war on the varmints and researched eliminating them. I tried all of the various ways to get rid of them. Found a solution that was incredibly successful. Get a large "have a heart" trap, that is one that live traps the animal, put in some fresh broccoli all the way in the back of the trap. I actually wire tied it the the back wall of the trap. Put a couple drops of vanilla on the head of the broccoli. This is key, they can't resist the smell of vanilla. Put the trap close to where they get under the deck, arm it and wait. I got 9 groundhogs last year and three earlier this year. Have not seen one since. After you have them trapped you can relocate them, shoot them, poison them or gas them whatever you deem appropriate. Good luck

I used to shoot on average 60 a year on my last property with my 22-250. I kind of miss that since in four years, I have seen none although I know they used to be on my property because I need to fill a hole in on occasion. I think the coyotes have cleaned them out?

The smoke bomb thing never worked for me. A friend has good luck with a piece of plate and M-80's. Takes one person to light the M-80 and another to drop the plate over the hole. Groundhogs usually have a "backdoor" so the shock from the M-80 works better than a smoke bomb.

I used to see advertisements for a propane/oxygen aparatus marketed for gophers. You would inject the gas into the hole then light it off somehow. Perhaps on the sinister side, when it comes to groundhogs sometimes it does get to be a downright war.

The place we used to live before we moved 4 years ago was infested with ground hogs. They were burrowing under my barns and house. I shot them with a .22 rifle. I have read many posts that if you pour used motor oil down their holes they will leave. They can't stand the motor oil on their fur. I have never tried this method but have read enough posts on this subject to believe that this is true.

My preferred method is 10-22 rifle providing them some high lead poison. Con-a-bear will work as well but have to beware of collateral damage such as neighborhood dogs/opossums ect. Also have used the Smoke Bombs, (Cover one end and toss in 2 regular smoke bombs and cover that hole. if you see smoke coming out somewhere cover it or toss in more smoke bombs, just used regular smoke bombs no need for the Poison ones as regular ones are pretty toxic.

Other method as mentioned use a lawn mower mix in a bit of 2 cycle motor oil and a couple sections of shop vac hose and a section of fence pipe run half a tank of mixed oil & gas down into the hole. cover up the exits and pile some dirt around the tube going in but leave enough opening at other hole so exhaust can get all way through the hole.

I have seen the farmer next door pour a gallon of gas down a groundhog hole and light it. He shoots the groundhogs as they come out. And come out they do. Worked every time I have seen him do this. This is a little too extreme for me. I could have steel trapped them. A matter of preference I guess. A .22 rifle is much more simple and clean.

Get a trap from TSC pit some apples in the back and then shoot em. I have so many on my land.
