3/8" or 1/2" hose for rear cylinder?

   / 3/8" or 1/2" hose for rear cylinder? #11
The data below is for my bigger Deere5520 tractor.
I presume no problem with this either with 3/8" hose?
I don't know what fpm is.

Type: open center

Capacity: 10 gal [37.9 L]

Pressure: 2800 psi [193.1 bar]

Valves: 2 to 3

Valve flow: 15.9 gpm [60.2 lpm]

Steering flow: 6.6 gpm [25.0 lpm]

Steering press.: 1900 psi [131.0 bar]

You will be fine. You are not running a motor, just a small cylinder that requires very little flow.

Thanks everyone. The 3/8" hose is so much easier to route and keep out of harm's way. I'm glad it will work.

Exactly! Even with the 3/8" hose, Sixdogs may need to install an orifice or needle valve to slow flow so he has good control of his cylinder. If all he want's to fully extended or fully retracted, it won't make a difference. However, if he needs fine control of the cylinder's position, he'll need to slow down that flow rate.

If that cyl is a 3 in bore and 1.5 shaft, 8 in stroke,

10 GPM extend time will be 1.48 sec
----------retract------------ 1.09 sec
5 GPM extend --------------2.96 sec
----------retract ------------2.22 sec

Don't know how much the harrow weighs, but it will come up fast.

It just depends how fast he wants the drag harrow to raise.

JJ. That is true! My woods 6' mower lifts up like it was shot out of cannon.

I'll it come up OK at idle and if under operating conditions just "feather" the hydraulic lever and I'll be good to. 3/8 will be just fine for me and when I'm done rebuiling and painting the thing--May--I might just post a picture of it..
