Before buying a used engine you should find out how much it will cost to turn the crank and dip the block and change the freeze plugs i believe you could have a completely rebuilt motor for around 2200 since the major over haul kit cost 800 the oil pump is 200 the water pump is 120 and the thermostat is 8 and the radiator hoses is 32 dollars for both so you are looking at 1160 plus shipping

its nothing different than a gas just you have a injection pump to time up rather that a distributor. i really like rebuilding diesel motors than gas engines
