Now wait a second here... someone from N Carolina saying someone ELSE talks funny LOLOLOLO:laughing:

:D

Aint that the truth. But I am a transplant Tar Heel.

I have lived all over the South, and I have listened too, and spoke with, quite a few accents. I have worked with people from all over the world including people who supposedly speak English, were from England, but it took me a month or so to understand this one guy. But eventually I understood their English. This one guy was from Manchester so JMURRAY01 will understand my problem. But I could understand him after a month or so.

I shared an office with a guy from Korea for years. I was one of the few people who could understand the guy. He was/is one of the smartest people I have ever known. He had about six college degrees. If he would take a few more classes he could have a few more degrees. Really smart guy who liked to go to school. Freak!:D Really good guy. His English was not so good but I could understand him and would sometimes "translate" what he said for other people. He told me once that I had a good ear for picking up language. :)

On one of my first visits to NC I was listening to a guy talk. He was from the Piedmont area of NC, not exactly the middle of nowhere in NC, but I could NOT understand a word that man said. :D:D:D

Later,
Dan

It is a beautiful country. The USS Saratoga steamed up the River Clyde and anchored off Greenock (across from Holy Loch sub base) in 1971. We were there for a week. I saw Loch Ness (didn't see Nessie though) and Edinburgh. Old Edinburgh looks like the setting of a Charles Dickens novel (which it was, in fact).

You do realize Roy, if you wore that hat back then, people would have mistaken you for Nessie

hehe

I do want to visit...hopefully soon. The wife wants to visit England (shes a great fan of Dick Francis books). Ireland is also on the agenda

I won't have my first real tractor until the end of the month. (Jan '12)

I can't wait til I take delivery!!!
Watch out then, I'll have a thousand questions.:confused2:

This is true, but I had to wear this white hat the Navy issued to me back then...

Our main town is in the 700 - 800 mark, not sure what the total is if you include the outlying areas.

I tried to run for mayor about 10 years ago...but was told i couldn't run as i didnt live in the town proper...**** i really wanted to be the head Athol in town
