Beautiful restoration. May I ask what brand of paint you used as I am restoring a 1925 Massey-Harris sickle mower and am looking for a good quality paint.

I actually used rustoleum and mixed it with thinner to paint. I looked at the IH colors but, they did not look right. I then sprayed it with a clear coat.

Thanks. I am thinking of using the Valspar restoration series paint from Tractor Supply. I thought this would of been the paint you used because of the quality and richness of the color.

What a good looking planter. Looking at the seed plate I'd say it drops several corn seeds at a time or is it for a larger seed?

No it does not drop several at a time. There is a plate that sits above this when the boxes are closed that will allow one seed to sit in the hole and will lift another seed off the top if there is more than one in. Surprisingly it is not bad about cracking seed. There is a gearset on the axle for the wheels that has a clutch mechanism in it that rotates it to drop a seed, it is not a constant turning of the chain and is adjusted for seed spacing by which set of gears the chain is riding on. The same clutch will disengage so it won't drop seed in transport between fields.
IH used the same chassis for planters even in the 50's just had a different tongue, when the clutch would be disengaged by means of a pull rope it would actually lift the field runners up for transport so the only thing touching the ground was the drive wheels.
For what its worth I use this same planter that was made in the early 50's to plant sweet corn and food plots. With multiple plate sets I can do milo, peas, soybeans, corn, sunflowers and I have a plate for pumpkins. Dad farmed with this planter in the 70's and into the 80's. My grandpa had bought it new in the early 50's I believe.
