Just checking on my L3700su, should some air be blowing out the evacuator valve? How does this work off the air intake? Part (3) in picture.

"Air flows through static vanes (plastic or metal) which causes the air to spin. Centrifugal force separates the heaviest impurities (dust, dirt, insects, and other debris) from the air stream. These contaminants are discharged automatically through an integral evacuator valve. Only purified air flows to the air filter elements (primary and safety stages of filtration)."

Found this after searching for a while, was curious about it too.

I always thought (yes, that's dangerous) that that part catches trash/dirt and you squeeze it to drop the trash out. I never gave it a squeeze and never been around it when the engine is running.

So you say that it blows a bit of air out of it? or asking if it should?

Air blows out now while running. Not sure if it should. Fairly steady too maybe a few psi of pressure. Never noticed before, but then again dont usually have engine running while inspecting filters. Manual says open once a week by hand to evacuate debris but with the air pressure I have it stays open. Brand new air filter installed today at 105hrs.

Also, I've also asked the dealer which says it is normal for air to be blowing out but could not explain how it worked. I just want to know if it is right or if i have something serious with the intake or exhaust valves.

Just wanted to close this topic. I did not find anything wrong. But there is indeed air coming out of the evacuator valve at all times (more air with higher rpms).

I think colby587 is right. It appears to be the design of the filter housing. Air swirls around the inside perimeter of the filter housing and hits the end where there are some static vanes, particles drop out and fall into the the evacuator valve and the clean air goes into the air filter.

Check your tractor sometime while it is running.

Can't answer op question but when (after) I bought my L3400 I went to Napa and bought inner air filter(pic #1).
Goes inside original.

The evaluator valve automatically spits out dust particles but larger ones can stick in by not being able to wedge open the rubber enough to drop out. To be frank, in 20 years of working with the plastic body cleaners I have never seen it happen but the cleaner sales reps say it can. So that is stage one of cleaning. Then comes the primary element which gets almost all of the damaging dirt, usually followed by the secondary or "safety" element but I am surprised to see yours doesn't have one. Even my 18 HP mini-excavator has a secondary element.

The Kubota Grand L series come with both main and safety filter. The economy L series do not have the safety filter but since they use the same housing you can buy it yourself and fit it in. As for construction grade machinery I think they all have both filters.

Air blowing out of the evacuator is completely normal. Mine does it. You should of felt how much air blew out of my old c190 skid steer with a 300ci 90hp cnh motor, yikes!
