Kubota L series air filter evacuator valve

The evacuator valve on my kubota air filter was completely chewed off by a mouse, is it safe to run the tractor without it, or can I fashion a facsimile with duct tape?

Either make one or tape two sides of the hole closed - temporary fix till you buy a new one.

its ok to run it, you still ahve the air filters... but, they may clog sooner depending on what you are doing with the tractor( environment). THe rubber piece is sometimes referred to as a "duckbill"... As others have said, the filter housing incorperates a built in dust ejector and the duckbill is the exhaust port for that system... Its shaped that way to help meter the air pressure being created inside the filter housing and they will typically pull closed if there is too much negative pressure inside the housing... Ideally, the filter housing manufacturer does not want this as a point of entry for the filtration system, only as an exhaust port for the dust ejector..
Depending on where the filter system is mounted, if the duckbill was missing, it could actually draw in unwanted hot engine compartment air rather than the cooler air from outside the engien cowling...

Thanks for the great explanation! I managed to catch a local dealer when they opened and got a new one for $12.95. Hopefully the mice will leave this one alone!

The Kubota Grand L series come with both main and safety filter. The economy L series do not have the safety filter but since they use the same housing you can buy it yourself and fit it in. As for construction grade machinery I think they all have both filters.

My plain ole' L has an inner safety filter. Inside the main there is a another smaller blue filter.
