Best chain saw

I have a Husky with 32 inch bar, Husky with 18 inch bar, and 2 Macs with 16 inch bars. I have compared my menagerie to the saws of friends when we were out in the woods working them. I do not recommend Poulon or Craftsman. They are not as good as either Stihl or Husqvarna.

Stihl and Husqvarna are good choices. My macs are good saws but I don't know about new ones (still makin' 'em?) Macs are about 10 and 15 years old respectively.

I recommend using Stabil in your fuel all the time or draining the tank and running the engine till it dies of fuel starvation with choke on at the end of a session. You never know how long it will sit before you pick it up again and decomposed fuel is a real clear and present danger to your chainsaw use pleasure.

I have a Stihl 260 and an old Husky 66 that's about 20 years old. I like both saws. I bought the 260 about a year ago because I wanted a lighter saw and my buddy that sells saws sells Stihl. I am not crazy about the new caps but have made my piece with them. I would not hesitate to buy a Husky or Stihl pro grade saw.

I would highly suggest Poland or Husquarna. They are tough, more durable and reliable.

These needs to be deleted it is JUNK:thumbdown: I use a Echo CS-370 for allround use and make sure to run it dry

Well, I'm new to this forum but isn't this mostly a personal preference decision? Feelings about Stihl vs Husky are strong in these parts (logging country -- Pac NW). I have a Husky 350 w/ 20" bar (3.2 HP/52 cc, I think) and it's been great. The new equivalent version is the 450. We have 320 acres of timberland and I'm always using it for something. After 4 years, it still starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. It's been bounced out of the tractor FEL and the case cracked. I'd buy the Husky again just because of the fuel and oil filler caps, like others have said. I have a Stihl brushwhacker and I hate that fuel cap.

Before I bought I checked with my arborist friend... he said Husky and Stihl are tossup. Having said that, the big box store versions are less good.
I had the Husky 350 for years and used the **** out of it. Last year I was cutting a big downed oak and it heated up to the point where some plastic got sucked into the carb and ruined the thing. Good news is that my Husky dealer went to bat for me and I got the newer version 450 for free even though I purchased the original at Lowes. Actually I liked the design of the 350 better, but begger/choosers ya know?

Our Stihl 041 farm boss saw has been run over by a tractor. We used it today, still runs great. It is a older saw we purchased new in the late 80s. We never have done anything to it except sharpen the chain, replace the bar a few times and I believe we changed the spark plug one time a few years ago.:D Like most of the people here I would go with a stihl.
