I just watched the first show where they dredge gold from the Bering Sea.With the Axe man and gold rush threads here on my mind I found I viewed it differently.
First off was quite an impressive barge loaded with and excavator and all kinds of stuff. Right from the git go, They had troubles with the pro drives.I thought well that isn't going anywhere. But then the decided to launch it anyways.I assume that they would pull one of the two props out and fix the trouble. But they didn't and on the way ,pushing the barge in it ''slips' off the fifth wheel.and drops. Then the dramatic music etc. In my mind I'm thinking already they have made a bad decision and launched anyways, and for it tos ''slip'' hmm The barge is huge and heavy and fell on sandy shores, So I'm thinking how much damage could there be?
Probably they undramatized it..
So they barge sets out with an excavator ad a paddling motor.:confused2::thumbsup:.each time the boom swung I could see they had ''cat'' blocked out.
and then the next few frames it wasn't blocked.I don't know why they try to block that stuff really. a ford is a ford just as a cat is a cat.lol
All trough the show I could see dramatics at play.On one ship, the captain got ont he crew members case for not bringing a coffee.. then a second later he asks that member for money for gas:confused:
The guy walks off to get the 5 gals of gas and doesn't return till they set sail.He missed the ship, All he had when he returned was a backpack. And I can tell you 5 gals of gas is awfully heavy in the backpack..
All and all a good show. take it for what it is..
NEXT week they promise to get some blood and some punching in and also alto of beeps...

I am sure we are in for a bunch of unbelievable drama, but that big barge crew found more gold in just a few hours of digging than the Hoffmans have found all season. Look next season for the Hoffmans to be dredgeing somewhere with a barge and that big 400 trackhoe of Jack's stuck on the end of it. LOL

45.6 or 46.5 ounces (can't recall) , which ever it was it came to 75k for a half day's work. Not a "bad" day at the office!! Some of the crews seem to have much more experience, or are at least better at making quick decisions than the Hoffmans

They sem to have a good cross section of people.Thers one guy whos got a smlla boat and was flooded with water when he arrived to use it. Im sure they set that up so people will be rooting for him. He is a one man operation..
And then there the one with the woman. Seems like just as the crazy water logger they throw in the female for good luck and ratings..

I like the dude that was late to work, then want to argue with the boat owner. I wouldnt have just told him to get off my boat, I would have helped him along his way. I bet we havent seen the last of him either.

Ah Nome.....my old stomping grounds - what an absolutely ***-kicking little corner of the world.A bunch of great, insane, good hearted people, unbelievable countryside and weather - man I miss that place...I jumped off the boom of the dredge you see in the opening of the show....

One of the far shots of the track hoe dredge paddling out, i swear you see the out drive running. I think they just said it wouldnt turn not that it wouldnt run so i guess they were steering with the trackhoe?

Shanty town, real metal and plywood...Not much to do there for sure..Eat, drink, sleep and dive for more gold. I would not be able to do 5 1/2 hours straight in that water?
