Tell me about 3 pt. PTO driven boom sprayers, please. There is very little info here about them.

I want to get one primarily for herbicide application on ~10 acres. I have tried the tow behind, the Fimco in back of the UTV, etc. Won't cut it. I will own a 3pt hitch sprayer.:D

So, feedback on brand/type/must get/must not get, etc. I realize it is fairly subjective, and I can filter that.

Kubota L3940. I'm thinking 60 gallons, mebbe a hunnert.........???

Thanks,

Big Al

I built my own. Used a 200 gal tank and roller pump from agri-supply. Mounted it to a 1000lbs 3 point carry all from agri-supply. Made a16' boom out of 1 1/4 " square steel. Put in a 4-way valve so I can spray left side, right side or center. Also added a hand wand with 25' hose.

Bud,

Building my own is not an option, I simply cannot dedicate the necessary time.

What sort of area are you using with 200 gallons? My primary areas are two pastures, 5 acres each. I'm thinking 100 gallon tank............???....

I bought this 65 gallon Fimco to use on my 2 acres a couple years ago. If I remember it was right around $600 at TSC. Works great.

Check out this page:

I have the Deluxe 150 gallon unit. It's a "boomless" or fan-spray nozzle. Works well, unless your area is prone to high winds. In that case, you really need a boom.

I have the same one AVGUY has. Bought it 8 years ago. Use it on 7 acres of horse pasture. I have a applicators license for those odd chemicals I use from time to time. If you buy one remember to 1) rinse out thoroughly, 2) Loosen hoses to remove all left over water and 3) pour 3 to 4 oz of oil into the pump and spin by hand to lubricate all the roller bearings, etc. so they don't seize up.
You will like it, based on your post.

I have owned a Hardi BNL 50 for about 10 years and i think it is the best sprayer on the market. It has 14' booms and a hand sprayer also. i paid 1200.00 for it but sure the price has gone up.

I went ahead and got the 300 gal.trailer with 21ft boomprowler00.JPG no the prowler its just pulling it back to the house no pto:D I would figure out what your gonna need to spray(how many gallons) on your 10acres. Mite not matter if you get 50gal.or 60gal still may have to make 3 trips.

Just my opinion I would go with the boom....
If I was spraying my 10ac.pasture(with grazon p+d) I would mix 1 and1/4 grazon to 150gallons of water,run 35psi,2nd gear-high at 4mph...Just an example
