AXE man Drama?

I watched one episode of Axe Men a few days ago, no more! As far as I'm concerned people who throw tantrums like that need their heads knocked together, just to get their attention. That's why I don't care for "reality programs", they're to choreographed! ~~ grnspot

I feel the same way...

That chainsaw cut was real you can believe it. I have seen similar cuts on my knee and thigh a couple times he was getting several stitches and a tetanus shot at a minimum.

I dont even know what that dimwit had the saw in the first place Shelby told him he wasn't letting him near it. :confused2:

It looked to be a dumb mistake, and I also wondered why there wasn't something to protect the saw teeth? Those were some wicked looking raker teeth on that saw...he had almost stopped the spurting, right before he hopped into the truck..I like to keep the plastic guard over my bar until I use it. I still haven't seen any Chaps on any of these shows>>Looking forward to '**** on wheels 2' this season..

No renewal? Thats too bad if its true.

Ive heard rumors that it was getting renewed? Basically they were just negotiating what Goodson was going to get paid.

EDIT: Looks like its true. I did a bit of searching and this was posted to the SL website yesterday:

"Lori Goodson asked me to share the following with you all:

"We have finally got some news form Discovery and I'm sad to say they are NOT going to renew."

That really is sad, they seemed like good people.

I always keep a scabbard on my chainsaws when there are other people around. It seems like many people lack an understanding about how sharp and dangerous a chainsaw is even when it's off. I've seen too many near accidents when someone was trying to "help" by handing me a saw or something like that.

Amen to a scabbard, It make me cring when i see someone walking witht their saw and the chain is still in motion....My old saws don't have a brake, so I am extra vigulant?

I was talking to a couple timber cruisers the other day about new saws, and one of the guys said his policy with the brake is that it's on whenever he has to take more than 1-2 steps with a running saw, or anytime he puts a running saw down and walks away from it. Seems like a good simple policy to follow.

I recently got tripped by a ground vine when carrying an armload of cut sapling pieces I gathered up, and it laid me out flat on my face, with wood flying through the air. Never had a chance. Would have been bad news if I was carrying the saw or it was on the ground nearby!

I won't use a chainsaw without a brake. Even with brake and chaps I have a cut on my knee. Result of cutting small brush around the base of a 4' Doug fir and pinching the blade. The brake saved the knee. No bone just skin.

Sorry that you did cut yourself, I have had close calls too. But only cut thru jeans? I hate to buy another saw , just for a brake unit. My son has a Husky, it messes up thru the brake and has to go to the shop. Did he just buy a bad model??. Our TSC sells husky. My Ole saw is a Stihl 028 woodboss.. and a couple homelites for trimming?

The Huskys at TSC are generally not the best models -- they'd be similar to the Huskys at Lowes. For the money, I'd say to get an XP model if buying Husky. You'd have to get them through a real Husky dealer.

I haven't heard of brake issues on any brand of saw, though it's entirely possible that the brake band could get gunked up with crap and fail. If clean, they should pretty much be trouble-free. There's also the possibility of some issue with the clutch drum which could affect the brake. It's not unheard of for people to cook the drum when abusing the saw.
