Hi, I've searched a bit but didn't see anything related to my problem...
Make that my BIL's problem... he picked up a 135 a month ago, it came with FEL, and a blade on the rear. The FEL hydraulics come from a diverter valve under the seat. The previous owner explained the routine to switch hydraulics from 3 pt hitch to FEL --- 3 pt hitch control lever right to top, then throw diverter valve, then the FEL works.
The problem, though, is with the 3 pt hitch operation. To drop the rear blade from highest position to lowest you only need to move the lever about an inch or so. Consequently, it's pretty difficult to stop the blade an inch off the ground for things like spreading out gravel, etc.
Any thoughts on what's wrong here ? Is this normal ?
My only experience is with my Kubota BX which has a center-stop 3 pt control lever.

thanks for any advise.

Pete

Does the three point hitch have position control? Usually there are two levers, one for draft control and one for position control. To use position control, you move the draft control lever full down and control the three point height with the position control lever.

If you don't have postion control you'll have to use limiter chains or make something that will hold the blade a fixed distance above the ground.

I would definitely check on the position and draft control levers. Ran into a similar problem with my 35 a little while ago and it was my young fella. He had pushed the wrong lever. He said "It pushed really hard!" and I said to him "Yep, that's cause it's not supposed to move". Put it back into position and all was good.

OK thanks for the ideas...
the tractor is 200 miles away at Kingsville, and my BIL does not have a computer.
I saw the tractor for only a short time a month ago when he got it.
I recall the lever with a small round knob on the end... and another lever which, I think, had some sort of thumb screw to set a stop position for the other lever ?
Maybe I have it wrong... is the second lever I saw the draft control lever ?
Should it be all the way up, or down ?

I'll call my BIL to get his thoughts on this, and maybe a clearer picture.

I can't tell you which lever is which. On our Fords and NH's, the one closest to the seat is draft and if you want position control you put that one all the way down. You can run in a mixed mode with draft and position but if you just want to control the position, you need to have the draft lever all the way down.

On the 135 the draft control and position control levers on the the right side of the tractor along side and below the seat level. The outer lever is the draft control, the inner lever is the position control. There is also a draft response lever on the right side of the tractor below the seat level and forward of the draft and position controls.
