Well normally I don't, but it was pretty hard not to on this one.

I am still way behind my dad, he even ran over a calf once, fortunately it was unhurt.

Has anyone bought a tractor out of state? I'm curious how I pay the sales tax to Pennsylvania if I buy out of state or do I pay sales tax in the state I buy in?

Most likely yes. We pay it when we fill out our state taxes at the end of the year. There should be a question asking you if made any out of state purchases.

See if your local dealer can get close to the out of state price... if they can't, don't be looking for warranty work coming from the local dealer. The out of state one should help you.

I paid the "out of" state tax since the tractor stayed in that state. Another closer dealer in my state would match the price but since the tractor was going to another state he would match the price by not charging me (in state) tax. Figure it might come back and bite me in the tush... I didn't take the offer.

Bottom line, you should pay the tax but unless you fiance it, "they" may not find out about it.

I am shopping for a L5240 right now too, and have gotten a couple prices that are right at $35K +/- $100 for the following setup:

One is local, the other is from out of state. The out of state price included delivery. Right now I am leaning toward my local dealership. My local dealer suspected the 60 months at 0% too, but noted that he won't know for sure until April 1.

On the R-1's vs R-4's I can offer my experience. If a tractor is used for farm work nearly 100% of the time, R-1's are the answer. If 75% or less, R-4's. The grey area is open to debate.
I have used R-1's exclusively for decades and swore I would never use anything but R-1 ag tires. And never use a hydro trans either. I was fine with R-1's even on a lawn stting.
Then I bought a B7800 with R-4's--and a hydro--and I will never have anything but R-4's and a hydro. The R-4'are perfect for around the yard plus many ag applications and barely leave a mark in the grass. Plus they have fine traction except in mud.
You are looking at one fine tractor combo. Congratulations.
