again, someone turned me in to animal control??!!

/ again, someone turned me in to animal control??!! #91
I've had code enforcement jockeys leave those things on my front gate before, I throw em away. Never been dragged into court and never lost any sleep over it, my lawyer would skin em raw trying to prove I actually saw any slip of paper on the gate. I had one code officer park out front one time for an hour while I cut the grass and ignored him, had another one try to talk to me once and I know just enough sign language to pass as deaf. I know the local judge and it turns out they thought my doghouse was a shed and wanted me to get a permit, had a good laugh with the judge about the deaf act. Two years later the notices have stopped and life goes on, I'm never gonna let some fat tax dollar taking slob wreck my day, I do not speak to public officials ever...but I will give them my lawyers card.

given that they seemingly let anyone complain anonymously.. I'm not sure what a lawyer is gonna do for me.. apparrently there aren't even any records to subpeana (spelling? )

...

Something is wrong with this!

There sure is. It's called due process. You are innocent until proven guilty, and the burden lies on them. If there are no records, then how can they prosecute you? Some things in this country have gotten way beyond common sense.

Next time you talk to the animal control officer, tell him , instead of me breaking up my work schedule, how about you come out once a month to inspect my animals, when I'm home anyway. So when the knuckleheads call in to complain, they know darn well there is nothing wrong with your animals.

that might work for straight 'code enforcement' issues where they think you nbeed some building permit.

Animal cruelty, is a different thing entirely.

your deal might be a fine equal to 2x the permit fee ( what it is here.. )..

Mine, if I had actually been starving my animals.. could be a felony...

I don't think they'd let me ignore a felony...

PS.. as an update.

the code enforcement officer that covers my area of the county gave me her cell number and now has mine..

she will call me each time someone complains.

had to come out again yesterday, take more pics... animals came to fence.. so i didn't have to show up.. this time she left a white tag saying she had been there, case closed.

whoever this is.. they live in my community and are now frantically calling.

I talked to my neighbor last night.. told him what's been happening.. and he was aware of the first couple times too.

Anyway.. early this am when he heard my diesel start up as I was leaving for work, he rushed out of his garage and flagged me down.

seems last night around 6:30pm aft I had went to work and talked to him, he was leaving his property and stopped behind his gate to pick up some trash that blew into his yard.

a black toyota highlander drove down my fenceline at a snails pace, then parked nearly in his driveway and the driver, a woman, was leaning her neck around trying to look diagonally down the right of way that seperates me and my neighbors property, so she could see my back yard.

my neighbor say this.. and at first thought she was trying to get into his driveway, then figured it out.. that she had to pull that far down to see behind my house and into my back property. when he walked around the gat, she saw him and sped off around the corner. he hopped into his truck and went down the road .. we live on a big closed loop with 3 cul-de-sac's, and then a common entrance/exit to ahighway.

by the time he got out of his driveway she ws gone.. probably means she parked in a garage close by..

i got a pretty good idea it must be 'her', and she was checking to see if my animals had been picked up after her multiple calls? now.

i also did find out another tidbit after talking to the animal control officer.

normally you can call animal control for animal noise complaints, like dogs barking.. etc. however.. in our county, if it is ag zoned land.. you can't.. cows mooing, chickens crowing, pigs oinking, dogs barking, etc.. apparrently is allowd on ag zoned land.. i;m A-1, etc. not that htis has any bearing on me.. but.. I guess if the lady ?? gets nowhere ont he horses she might omplain about my dogs.

code enforcement woman mentioned this...she's seen this behavior before...

It sounds like you may have come close to catching your culprit. Considering what she did, I'd bet that she is watching you and knows your habits. Perhaps you should change things up a bit to catch her off guard. Make it look like you are leaving then double back. For that matter, cameras can be wonderful tools in matters like this.

Beat her at her own game, be sneaky.

Make her an offer she can't refuse : a one eyed horse head in her bed !
Sorry that's just wrong !

Camera suggestion was probably a good one. If you have one, great, two better, especially if they timestamp. Set them up and catch every car coming down the road and if you use two, you will be able to compare the timestamps to see how slow they were moving. The vehicle that comes around too often and moving too slow is probably the officer you talked with. The second runner up is probably the culprit (or the officers boss, lol). Make sure you KNOW WHO IT IS BEFORE YOU REACT! We made a peliminary guess with my brother's busybody and would have made a grave mistake had we gone ahead. That person was around "too much" because they knew somebody was nosing around and was trying to catch them for us. Camera just didn't catch the guy walking over from next door till we repositioned it, after confronting the person we caught on camera with the pictures. As with you, a good neighbor is priceless!

Maybe it's time to get serious...:D

Buy one of these, squirt it w/ WD40 so it glistens real good and place it in a good spot. Maybe place it part way in and out of a plastic trash bag, perhaps w/ an Axe, or saw and a rope right there with it.

The caller will be absolutely hysterical callin' in the armed forces on you. Investigations will prove it is what it is and the armed forces will never be back and the caller will be discredited forever. Halloween is great fun. Heck it is legal to eat horses anywho, SICK it is in my mind but...

Make sure all property is posted "no trespassing" and/or "Private Road" or some such, even the right-of-ways. Even right-of-ways are private property unless they are for public roads.
