Cleaning Plastic Hood and Body Panel Surfaces

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Improper care of machine plastic surfaces can damage that surface:
Do not wipe plastic surfaces when they are dry. Dry wiping will result in minor surface scratches.
Use a soft, clean cloth (bath towel, diaper, automotive mitt).
Do not use abrasive materials, such as polishing compounds, on plastic surfaces.

dont know if it will work....just relaying what i read here

1. Rinse with clean water to remove dirt and dust.
2. Dry thoroughly to avoid water spots.
3. Spray PLEDGE onto hood and surfaces and leave on for 30 to 60 seconds.
4. Wipe off with cheesecloth to bring out lustre.

I use pledge, but that is to polish and bring out the shine after a wash job.

However, I haven't found it to remove surface scratches like the OP described.

What is the X20 product?
A brand name would help. Google doesn't bring it up for my entry of 'X20' or 'X20 polish'

Sorry, it's Meguiar's X2.0. I forgot the decimal.

Scratches can not be buffed out of plastic. Some people referring to things that work for them most likely have painted plastic, but some of you will have laminated plastic, or even colored plastic. Small scratches in paint can be buffed out, but any scratches in the plastic itself are there for good.

Griots garge products make a plastic polish and scratch remover kit. There products are well tested and very high quality. I would call Them before you try anything.

Guys, This is not a Gator that he is working on it is a tractor. What is in the gator manual does not apply. This tractor has a plastic hood with painted or Gel coated finish in which scratches should be easily removable with the use of quality automotive detailing supplies.

I respectfully suggest that MMagis is incorrect. Scratches ARE removable in plastic. One of the first posters suggested Brasso for watch covers. TOOTHPASTE also works well....very mild abrasive.
In plexiglass Aircraft windshields (plastic) we used MIRRORGLAZE. That is still available on E-bay and works WONDERS.
Take your time and repeat until scratches are gone....or down to black plastic base:mad:
