More than likely extra gear lash. Is it Fiji.g from the front axle? If so which side? If not then I wud assume the mfwd power box where the front drive shaft wud come out of. If possible have someone walk along side staying a safe distance away and listen to help pin point the location. Then we can go from there.

Could be a bad u-joint on the frt driveshaft. Are all wheel attaching bolts tight??????

Do you have a floor jack and a couple of jack stands? Put the jack stands under the front axle and use the floor jack to lift the rear end.

Turn each front wheel and listen for noises. Engage the 4x4. Turn each front wheel and listen for noises. Try to determine if the front driveline has a problem by quickly rolling the front wheel back and forth (forward/reverse). If there's exessive wear in the front driveshaft you should be able to determine a lag (slop) as well as noise from the driveline.

Listen for unusual noise from the front differential as well. You might have a chipped ring gear or pinion.

If you've got some slop (lash) in the planetary gears in one of the front wheels you'll know it when you quickly turn the front wheel back and forth (1/4 turn).

Hopefully, you'll be able to isolate where the noise is coming from. That will help determine the next step.

Track down a copy of the Technical Repair manual. Very informative. Good luck.

i took the drive shaft apart and i looked at one side and i found that one tooth in the drive shaft is missing. if you take the drive shaft and look inside of it and there will be like 12 teeth and one is missing. i took the drive shaft off and put it in 4x4 and drove around and there was no noise. i put the tractor on stands and turned the wheels by hand when the shaft was in and there was a little noise but i was not shore if it was it and i turned the tractor on and pressed the gas pedal there was a nose but i am not shore if its the drive shaft.

That doesn't sound right.. Should be the same number of splines/teeth on the drive shaft as the pinion shaft. They mate up - one to one.

U-joints look OK? No gap at the edge of the cups - that might indicate some missing "needle" bearings - or slop/free play?

Well, if you drove around without the driveshaft and there was no noise - I'd guess that without the driveline there would be no noise from the front differential or the final/planetary gears when the wheels were on the tractor stands, right?

Key element is to determine if the problem is driveline or differential or the final drive gears. The symptoms you're describing (missing spline on driveshaft) and moving tractor without driveline and no noise - leads me to believe you've got a bad driveshaft.
