Hi Philly,
Thats an appetizing question for most people to ask however I believe it is against the forum policy to discuss such topics. It is an open door for unfair competition, slander, etc.
I can make a suggestion, though. Visit a few dealers in your area. I think you will soon find which one or ones suit you. I encourage you to spend time getting the feel for the service department more than the sales department since they will be your long term friends.
Also, go in with an open mind at first and just try to learn about the differences between machines and how those differences apply to your needs.
Once you start to narrow down your choices, bring your questions here and you will get as many opinions as you can digest.

I don't believe it's against forum policy, as long as no dealer bashing is involved I don't see why we can't recommend our favorite dealers that have treated us well. I would love to advertise my guy, treated me right for the last ~18 years, unfortunately he's in Michigan

I think I'm shooting for the JD 4X20 series. My land duties will consist of standard farming, plus a bunch of loader/backhoe work.

I had a pretty positive experience with Meade's tractor. They were near blountville but have moved to Johnson City. They have a Greeneville store as well but I never went there. They were pretty straight forward.

Welcome aboard. I was raised in Hawkins County and worked in Sullivan County-Kingsport. That's not too far from the Knoxville area where you live. Probably 80-90 miles northeast of you.
