Not THAT crazy or risky, he HAD a harness on.
Several watcher/helpers relaying signals too.
Gee, they are getting more and more like US workers - one to change the light bulb, many to watch/direct/run commentary/take video/criticize/etc.

I've seen worse, right here in USA.
I might have DONE worse, though not as impressive/spectacular (-:
I have selective amnesia on things like that.

Thousands die in coal mine 'accidents' in china each year.

Sorry, but I admire those guys. And to think, rock climbers and such do this kind of thing for free.

Our country has gotten so choked down by regs and rights, we can't get anything done. Now look where all the work has gone to. There is a balance, but I don't either country has it. And just so you know, I'd rather be here than there. Even though we've gone beyond balance, it is the lesser evil in my judgement.

You'd think that they had never heard of using explosives to demolish a building.

Here is a video of a building demolition gone wrong in Egypt. It appears to be a similar situation, trying to save money at the expense of the safety of the workers.

Agree ! I work for a utility and we have over 30 people in our safety dept that dont do squat except cause more work and reduce safety because all the employees run and hide when there around.

Probably not as many as die on US roads each year due to "alcohol fueled" so called "accidents" ?

From the title and content of the video I surmise that the worker was killed, or more to the point, he was probably flattened by thousands of tons of concrete falling on him.

I can't imagine what they were trying to do, but it seems painfully obvious the front of the building was heavier that the rest of it, and with the high lower level supports, and the upper overhangs, it was cantilevered in such a way that there was a good chance of it all leaning toward the excavator as it fell.

If they were indeed trying to drop the building at that time, it was more than just the bosses fault. The worker, (who may very well have been the boss), clearly either had chosen to take the risk, (probably got away with this kind of thing before), or was so lacking in judgment, he would certainly have found an alternate way to receive the Darwin award, had this tragedy not happened.

... You should see the bamboo scaffolding that goes up many stories...
I recently saw a program that was talking about different things used in the building industry. When they talked about scaffolding, they mentioned the use of the bamboo scaffolding in the orient (seems more then just China uses it).

They pointed out how flexible it is when it comes to following the contour of the building since it can do curves. They also pointed out ho much sturdier it is then traditional metal scaffolding like is used in this country.

They also mentioned how long the use of bamboo scaffolding has been around and the success rate and safety of it.

They may have some safety issues in China that some here may question but bamboo scaffolding should not be one of them.
