jinman;2725542 I pretty much danced a jig on the dam because all this work has been leading up to this moment (1st picture).QUOTE said:
Jim,
I couldn't resist making the little animation attached when you said you danced a jig. It plays fine locally on my IE-9 browser and depending on what TBN does to the code it should work if you open it full in your browser.
It should work on Firefox and Chrome although the colors may shift a bit.
I doubt if it will work on a MAC.
Will be a good test of what TBN does to images..

That's one cool bird! My gig looked more like the chicken dance without an accordion accompaniment.:D

Works in Chrome just fine. . .

How did you do the sand/clay mix? I have about 250 yd of sand I took out of a sandbar at the mouth of a creek and have been thinking of mixing that with the clay. I'd put down a layer of each and then run over that repleatedly with my 6' wide KKII tiller. I'm thinking the clay would have to be pretty dry, but that should work for mixing. What do you think?

That be easier then what I did one scoop(mini ex) at a time, plus I tried to lay it in thin layers. Yes I did wait for it to dry much easier to work with.

I think the professional guys use big drum mixers, but those are not in my budget. All my money is going to culverts and rip-rap.:confused2:

Jim,
I don't know where you are buying culverts, but for the last 5 years, I have been buying black double wall culverts from Contech Construction Products. Yesterday I picked up 60 feet of 8 inch culverts for $3.17 a foot. Local guy wanted over $10 a foot. A few years ago, I was pricing 24 inch culverts and found them as cheapest. They are still the best priced.

Brandi, TSC has 15" dia. x 20' long plastic culverts for $199 each. I don't know that one culvert would be enough in a heavy rain, but don't want to go to 24 because the culvert would need to be buried 11" deeper. I'm thinking two 15" culverts side-by-side with 18" of clay between them for a good seal. That will give me the flow I need and allow plenty of freeboard up to the dam level. One of my problems is that I sold my 18' utility trailer and only have my 12' dump trailer. I'll probably have to have the culverts delivered. I'm going to check with a couple of local lumber yards too. If I can buy local for nearly the price of TSC and give a local business my money, I'll do that, even if it's a few more dollars. One little lumber yard offers free delivery.

Jim,
<sigh> Conroe TSC does not carry culverts. Our Lowes did, but do not now. That is where I bought my 15 inch culverts for the pond's overflow under the driveway. Contech Construction Products has a plant or yard here.........
