So I pulled a major moron move and ran my 2001 TC40 out of fuel.

Poured 10 gallons back in it, removed the fuel filter, flushed it and filled the canister back up with fuel. It wont start and just turns over and over without firing.

What should I do to "re-prime" the system to get it to fire again?

When you removed the fuel filter did you let the diesel flow freely and get all the air out...?

Is your fuel cut-off solenoid working properly? Listen for the click when you turn the ignition on. If you can't hear it,touch the solenoid and turn the ignition on to feel the plunger working.

I never saw any diesel flow, I even turned it over with the filter off to try to get the air out of the line, should I do something differently?

Now that is weird...take your fuel line off just before it connects to the fuel filter and then turn it over and you should see fuel flow freely...let it flow a pint at least to clear the air...

OK, I thought about this some more...you said you took the filter off, then filled the tank and filter bowl with diesel...so you never left any room for the fuel to flow and release the air bubbles....So go ahead and disconnect the fuel line to the fuel filter and let the fuel flow into a jar or can until it runs clear with no bubbles...

Alright will do, like I said I'm fairly certain the only problem here is the out of fuel condition, since it was running fine just before I pulled that moron move.

I might have had the fuel valve turned off I was so mad at myself, I'll take another look at it shortly. I'll remove that fuel line from the filter housing and lower it so it will flow freely.

Other than free flowing fuel to the fuel filter do I need to do anything else? I have heard of large equipment operators loosening the fuel lines at the injectors to bleed the air out, sure hope I don't get into something like that.

No, I have a TC -29 and I have never had to loosen fuel lines at the injectors...I think you will be fine just with the fuel line to the fuel filter...take that off and let it run...

Thanks for all the help. Will report back in a bit.

There is a bleed screw on top of the fitting where the hose attaches to the injector pump. Open that and make sure fuel flows from the filter. Also, you have a fuel pump that is between the fuel filter and the injector pump. If your filter is not sealed, the fuel pump can draw air. It's not likely, but is a possibility.
