pto shaft connect question

When they give me trouble I find its because Im not holding the ring/collar back far enuf as I try to push it on. Holding back with one hand while pushing the coupling with the other doesnt work well because the actions fight one another. Try consolidating the forces. Use both hands to squeeze the ring back - fingers on ring - thumbs on coupling. Then, while holding it squeezed just push it on. It may be that the guard bell prevents you from doing this. Maybe you can cut away a small amount of the belled out portion so you can get appropriate purchase.

Isn't this Chinese hardware great? The thing they are best at is making it look as good as what we used to make in this country. I had a recent project where I drilled some 5/8" holes, went to TSC and bought some 5/8" pins for it, and guess what? Those 5/8" pins will not go into a 5/8" hole!

Yeah, can't blame this one on the Chinese..
Those ring type locks are a real PITA since you have to pull and push simultaneously.

I haven't bought an implement in a while...are the push pin driveshafts no longer available?

The Pto shaft guard is marked "Bondioli and Pavisi" and right underneath it says "Made in People's Republic of China." Of course where each component is made is another question. Since the tiller is made in China I would bet most if not all of the components came from there also.

I wonder what a guy would have to do to get a 100% american made implement or tractor. Makes me nostalgic for the old ones my grandpop use to farm with.

I seem to remember an American company that makes implements and sells them direct but I don't recall the name.

Same here...the only implement I bought new was a Land Pride rotary cutter about 11 years ago.

Back years ago when those funky odd shaped(not sq or rectangular) pto drive lines started coming on farm equipment they were made in Italy.
Maybe they've been outsourced to China.

When you let your implements sit for a while make sure the pto hubs are not resting on the ground where they will gather dirt and moisture!

Newrockfarmer, Welcome :thumbsup: I had to replace a pto shaft on the rc mower , found the new one at HF online about $75 each , complete. They had one with slide on bolt through @ the gear box , and push button at the tractor pto, and they had one that had the push button on each end . Even had the pto shield on them . Just a thought , cheapest price I've found yet.:thumbsup:
